Hmm...let's see...
Evil Doubles who come from an evil shadow universe and plot to take over ours as ours is so much shinier than theirs.
A few members get brainwashed and we have to rescue/Befriend them.
That damn white rabbit/dog/whatever thing from PMMM makes his grand plan known at last (Galactic conquest) and we have to stop him.
Godzilla wakes up.
So, the current (give or take a few days) topic of conversation is possible plotline ideas? Well then, I plan to eventually sign up for this thing, and thus feel that I should make a contribution to this discussion...
- Obligatory tournament arc! If used as an introduction, it could be Mike Haggard's last test to see who qualifies for his force, with monetary rewards as well to motivate non-lawful types. It'd probably be a free-for-all setup instead of brackets, lest some players get bored.
- Something is located in the most dangerous location on the planet! Is the location the ruins of an advanced civilization, or the HQ of the enemy (maybe a HQ in some ruins)? Is the 'something' an ancient treasure, or a powerful superweapon? No matter the specifics, it's up to the Mecha pilots to get the job done!
- The main characters from actual Mecha series have been put out of commission by some unknown force, leaving unorthodox replacements (the players) to take up the slack.
- Cliche 'everyone goes to some kind of super academy to hone their Mecha piloting skills' subplot! Can't spend the entire RP in our cockpits, can we?
So, how were those? Even if they're disliked, they might at least inspire someone else to come up with a better idea. By the way, I also kinda liked those 'Atlantis' ideas talked about earlier.
Or, if my character gets approved...hehehehehe...
Actually, I liked the Atlantis, Tournament Arc, and Evil Counterpart ones. I liked all the ones where someone tries to Take Over the World.

Putting Utsuho in a Tournament Arc, for a start, will be a problem. >.>
Another benefit of the Atlantis thing is that anyone else bent on world domination, like my proposed character, can easily pull Enemy Mine. After all, you can't take over the world if someone else already took it over.
