Fellow Americans, did you/will you get yourself a free comic book today? I got an Adventure Time comic and a Sonic The Hedgehog comic, and I bought the manga adaption of Cirque Du Freak while I was at the comic book store.

Man, I wish we had national free comic book day here...

Or, comic book stores, for that matter :/

How does this day even work? Would I have to go to a comic book store to get a free comic book, or would a store like Barnes & Noble's be doing it?

I forgot this was even a thing, just like I forgot about the Star Wars significance of yesterday. There's a comic book shop somewhere in the town that my university is technically "in" but "in" really means more like "below", and I'm studying for finals.

Besides, I would want my free comic books to be the first few issues of Saga, but how could I guarantee that?

[up][up]I'm not sure if a normal book store would have a free comic book bin or not... A bunch of comic book makers release issues specifically for giving away on this day, so I don't know if they would ship those to book stores or not.

Zersk, it happens in Canada, too. Or at least it does in Ottawa.

I got some good ones last year, but I'm too busy now to head over to the comic book shop.

Local Barnes and Noble here wasn't partaking. I missed out on a free Sonic comic. sad

My local B&N wasn't either.

Wooo, my comic store was doing this. Picked up the Avengers, New 52, and Sonic comics, and bought some Munchkin expansions as well. Feels good.

I don't have a comic store in town, but the Comics app on my iPhone isn't participating. I had to pay $1.29 for issue 2 of The Question 2005...

So are we going to be using this thread next year or making a new one?

Wish I could have gone to a comics store, but apparently there are three in all of Indianapolis, and they're all downtown, a place I have no other business going to.

Fortunately, that chain is nice enough to share a few titles with my local library chain. And I got sucked into the New 52 promo.

I hate that if any FCBD titles at all are actual standalones, it's the extremely kiddish ones, but then the whole point of FCBD is to get people to come into the stores and buy stuff.

I don't know how many people in this thread have been to stores that do it differently, but all the FCBD events I've been to have involved a table full of free comics specifically printed for the day and maybe some small freebies like logo pins. Everything else you pay for, at a special sale price if you're lucky.

The store I went to last year had some moderately notable artists available for autographs, but that was an extra expense.
