Okay so I downloaded a you tube video in mp3 format and I want to try to remove the vocals. The problem, is that when I tried to do this the first time it just deleted the entire file. Any way you guys can help?

Try to find the original audio file. One from Youtube most likely won't work.

Otherwise, try changing the frequency band until it works.

Also, use the Quickie Questions thread next time. It's at the top of Yack Fest, can't miss it.

How can you change the frequency?

It's in the Vocal Remover settings.

Okay, got it.

But how do I find out what frequency the vocals are on?

Trial and error? I don't know if there's any other way.

You'l find that you probably won't be able to get rid of them completely without losing some other sounds.
