This Coldtech is either going to be awesome or an utter pain. We'll have to wait and see.
How about both? It'll be awesome and a total pain.
Damn...this should be good. I bet every building on the maps are going to be hotly contested to keep your poor troops alive
Is there only cold weather that's being implemented? I would love other wet dreary mud and rains too.
Sprinting causes a 10% chance for the infantry to slip and fall.
^Accompanied by laughter from the live audience. Oh those silly Germans
And then the MGs take advantage of their immobility and open fire.
WAR ISN'T FUNNY
BUT IT IS FUN TO PLAY

You know what else would be awesome to implement? Wildfires! I doubt Relic is going to keep the entire campaign based in Russia during the winter: at some point or another they're proably gonna cover the Soviet push into the German countryside and eventually Berlin. And given all the explosives being thrown around it's only a matter of time before one of them hits a drybrush, starts a fire, which then spreads to the grass, and then eventually the trees, and forces you to either fall back or try to trap the enemy's infantry in the path of the fire! In Berlin, you can have the buildings catch fire and eventually spread to the point where a whole block of them is ablaze: the way to stop it's spread would be to demolish the building that's next in line of the fire.
Or what about rainstorms, like one of the above posters suggested? Heavy rainfall would cause tanks to get stuck in the mud or slow down infantry, possibly even flood low-lying areas and forcing your troops to wade through the water to pass?
Man, there are SO MANY ways they could implement the weather in this game...
When I first read about the new Co H, me and my brother came up with new "realistic" mechanisms they could implement:
I also predict that Soviet call-ins would be Lend-Lease Allied tanks, like from the EF mod.

To prepare you all for the awesome sound design I'm sure CoH2 will have, I present this amusing collection of CoH1 lines.
Some preorder and collector's edition stuff from THQ.
Not too crazy about the digital edition. Infact, I'm just going to wait it until it becomes cheap on Steam or something. My rig probably won't support it.
Yeah, the special edition simply isn't worth it. All you're getting is just extra skins, special beta access, and the original games, which you've probably already got if you've ordered that version. The retailer pre-orders are much more practical, but even then I'm hesistant to get those since it's just different skins, not new maps, units, or such.
Not as dumb as you might think, actually. For example, the T-34's broad tracks did an excellent job of dispersing its weight.
New trailer. I loves me the looks of them wooden fortifications.
So we're gonna have access to KV-1 tanks? Sweeeet.
I am so psyched for this game.
Dev diary, contains some gameplay footage, but doesn't really mention anything that hasn't been said before.
Nice, but I think I'll skip and wait for the official release. Besides, the Eastern Front mod already does more than half of what this game is doing!
MORE BUGS AND IMBALANCES FOR ME THEN.

About the EF mod, I forgot if the Germans were any different from vanilla? I would love, if somewhat controversial, to have anti-partisan SS units. It suits the theme somewhat and also Eastern Front vets which are basically re skinned Iron Cross holders.
The other factions stayed mostly the same I believe, aside from the British. The developers felt there were balance issues inherent in the British's systems though and created an alternately choice for them to have their infantry capture and move in hostile territory like everyone else's with a few other changes too.
I recall no anti-partisans, though they may come with the new German faction Ostheer that they're releasing soon! Or you know, not.

It's been a while since I played and only as Soviets.
Also, does anyone know how they are going to implement the differing eras of the Eastern Front in COH 2? Such as early war, mid and late war tanks and equipment. I really want my KV 1 destroying puny German light and medium tanks before getting stomped by a battery of 88.
