I have a Logitech Z520 speaker set in my room which I use for my laptop, iPod, keyboard (as in the musical instrument), pretty much everything. They're big speakers with an impressive subwoofer unit and they can be very loud.
They've always worked perfectly for me, but today I noticed a problem which I'm positively sure wasn't there before: at certain frequencies, there is a horrible clipping effect. By fooling around with my keyboard a bit, I've determined that it occurs in a frequency band approximately from 700 to 900 Hz. At first I thought something might be resonating, but it really sounds like the problem is in the speakers themselves. It's very annoying - it makes the most graceful, high-quality sound files sound like the audio of a webcam-recorded You Tube clip whose uploader forgot to turn his microphone down.
Does anyone know what might be the problem, and how this could be fixed, if at all? If not, could anyone direct me to a site where these questions can be answered?
