So, this is a thread for newbies to the Game Of Thrones universe to discuss the show without running the risk of being spoiled.
And that's any kind of spoiler, btw, even the "wait and see" kind of spoiler. Everyone should post here if they want to, just be mindful of what you're saying people.
So. Queef of Darkness, amiright? Holy shit the ending to that episode was amazing.

Sorry, book detail again, but there's a bannerman in A Dance With Dragons who takes too much pleasure in an enemy's kids being put into a Theon-like situation, and he is appropriately punished by it being insisted that his own kids be "fostered"- so there actually can be a lot of gray area between being fostered/being kept as a hostage pending your parents' good behavior.
Edit- ok, removing spoilers

Hodor
You do realise that in a series where Anyone Can Die, saying a given character is still alive in a future book is as much of a spoiler as saying a given character dies?
One polite reminder before the thump stick comes out: This is the book free thread.
Book spoilers are not okay, even in spoiler tags.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Sorry, won't happen again.
On another note, the basics of that Robb/Talisa scene.
◊
Talisa's "drowning in the Rhoyne" story would probably get her so much action in the Iron Islands.
"Your little brother survived a drowning? Meet me in my longship immediately. We'll bang, okay?"
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."She had him at honor.
That doesn't prove much. The Ironborn (or at least Theon) will go for anything that has a pulse.
By the way, sorry about my positing of book spoilers. Won't happen again.

HodorOn the subject of Iron Island morality, I really liked the "don't die so far from the sea" line. It's nice to have a sense that some kind of Ironborn culture exists beyond rape, pillage and murder; cutting out the stuff about their religion's left them looking even more one-dimensional than they already did.
Yes.
Here's my question: Was Stannis "speech" meant to be unironically rousing/"badass"? Because I took that scene as a joke about how socially awkward Stannis is, but I've seen plenty of people express thoughts that it was a proper Rousing Speech.
It was about Stannis being awkward and Brutal Honesty. Stannis' actions (leading from the front, putting himself in danger) are far more rousing than the speech.

I was trying to imply that he might keep her on like Ned kept Theon on, in the former case.
