So, this is a thread for newbies to the Game Of Thrones universe to discuss the show without running the risk of being spoiled.
And that's any kind of spoiler, btw, even the "wait and see" kind of spoiler. Everyone should post here if they want to, just be mindful of what you're saying people.
So. Queef of Darkness, amiright? Holy shit the ending to that episode was amazing.

Nods. It is known.
Hehe... If I ever have my own TV show, I'm going to have a character with a Mysterious Past who, whenever she's asked about it, stares mournfully into the middle distance, opens her mouth to start monologuing... then Smash Cut to next scene.
The tower the dragons went to? Presumably, but if you mean "are we supposed to know what it is", I don't think so. Someone on the other thread suggested it's the House of the Undying that the warlock mentioned last week.
Roose Bolton mentioned Theon only had a skeleton crew. They probably couldn't spare enough men to mount effective patrols.

I pretty much assumed it was the House of the Undying as well since that guy/those twins showed up last episode and they made a point of showing him/them in the recap. Conservation of Detail makes it logical, though not certain.
Double posting, but geeze.
I'm loving the Qarth storyline. Danaerys is getting a taste of the Game Of Thrones herself, and she absolutely sucks at it. Awesome. She conquered as a Khaleesi, but now she's in a completely different ball park. Fuck those two are creepy now. That vault is getting burnt down. Valyrian Rock my arse. The scenes did feel a bit rushed though — how did Jorah know where the mask woman was? And what she got to do with anything at this point.
Did making that Jaimie scene so long justify his complete absence from the rest of the plot. I thought that other Lannister was going to try and kiss him, for some reason. Or am I alone in reading sexual tension into those scenes.
Those Tyrion and Cersei scenes have been my favourite parts of the season, though. Loved him finally being explicit about They're really building up to something — I'm still betting that Cersei kills Joffery — they've still not shared a scene since the first this season.
Jon Snow is still leaving me cold. Shae got to be awesome again, but I'm certain there are a lot of her scenes being cut out. She's suddenly so loyal to Sansa now?
And holy shit at that ending. Where was Osha though? Donald Sumpter's reaction just killed it. No wonder he gets his own special cast page at the end.*

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Let's see. Theon did not initially intend to kill the escapees, but desperately needed to redeem himself in the eyes of his own own people. No Osha, no Hodor, bodies conveniently burnt beyond recognition. Luwin was sent home to make sure he didn't know how the hunt ended.
I'm betting that those corpses were not the Bran and Rickon at all; they were the two orphan boys from the farm where they lost the Starks' trail.

Rules of narrative support that. Bringing up the two orphans Brann sent to the farm would be wasteful if they never served a purpose.
Tywin and Arya's scenes are consistently amazing, I always catch myself with a massive smile on my face after it cuts away from them.
I think the boys are dead though, as they've already pulled the "Bran is dead... not really" card in the first two episodes of last series and I doubt they'd do it twice. We shall see though (really hope they aren't).
Hope next episode has more Lancel in!

I'm pretty sure they're not. We didn't see them get captured or killed, we have no identifiable bodies, we have two other people whose bodies it might have been, and we have a solid reason for Theon to pretend they were dead. Also, they've only just started the whole thing with Bran's wolf dreams and it would be really weird to kill him off before explaining what's going on.
Scepticism and doubt lead to study and investigation, and investigation is the beginning of wisdom. - Clarence DarrowThought the pacing was a bit off in this ep, as it was in the season 2 opener - every time they've got a lot to tell, it happens. Still not bad, but noticeable.
And as to the Ho Yay between Jaime and What's-His-Name - sometimes admiration is just admiration. Or d'you think Jaime had the hots for Ser Barristan?
Let me explain! ...No, there is too much. Let me sum up!I guessed Jaime was gonna give him a Tap on the Head. I suppose I was right about that... he just didn't stop tapping. Ick.

On a sadder note. I was thinking back to Sansa's Near-Rape Experience, and a thought hit me.
Besides that dude who got ripped apart, and Tyrion, Sansa is one of the people least deserving to be attacked by anyone. She's literally done nothing wrong besides being a little naive. And yet, everyone else escapes (barring ripped apart dude) and she gets attacked.
How the fuck is that fair?
One Strip! One Strip! Not fair. I know this is the book spoiler free thread, but the guy who was ripped apart was the High Septon- basically their Pope, and the fact he's rather plump is indicative of him being equivalent to the corrupt churchmen of the Middle Ages- there isn't really detail of specific bad acts by the guy, but he's basically supposed to be something of an Asshole Victim.

HodorWhat makes you think everyone else escaped? Looked like a lot of people were getting the shit kicked out of 'em at the very least. Sansa just "matters" more (a) to us, because she's a main character and (b) to the Lannisters, because she's an important hostage.
And yeah, you kinda glossed over that a guy got literally ripped limb from limb.
What? I brought him up.

You make a good point about her mattering more due to being a main character, it's just that like I said, she hasn't done anything to deserve being attacked like that, so I guess it resonated with me.
Also, I think that's the first time I ever saw someone get literally torn apart when it wasn't a zombie horde. Go figure.
One Strip! One Strip! That it enforces Sansa being the innocent victim (among the "important people"). While no one really deserves to be ripped apart (literally or figuratively) by an angry mob, the High Septon like the royal family is at least someone who actually engaged in actions that affected the people of Kings' Landing.
HodorGah, can't make up my mind who i want to win the battle next episode. I'm really liking Stannis and Davos, especially now they've left the Red Witch behind and obviously anyone who wants to murder Joffrey has got my full support...
But I don't want Tyrion (and Sansa- would Stannis kill her?) to die!
I'm not sure how much choice Stannis would have in Sansa's survival. She'd probably get mistaken for someone else, or just taken advantage of and killed in the crossfire. Even if she did survive, it's unclear whether Stannis would keep her as a bargaining chip or whether he'd return her when Robb capitulated.
Stannis might be a little bitter about Robb trying to hook up with Renly earlier on.
