If I may ask, how does Brennesvolk's research bonus work in the game?

Also, would you be willing to update the map with Brennesvolk and Ossenland's new colonies?

I'm also curious about how to handle what happens when I try to upgrade my units into custom battalions.

@ Upgrades: Alright, after talking it over with Sabre, upgrades for provinces and national agencies will take L*2 days, where L is current level. Upkeep will be 1/3 of full cost.

@ SJ: They'd be handled the same as any unit whose training and equipment have been upgraded, just with a special name.

@ Map updating: I'll get to it, handling the start of a war in another game ATM.

Do unit upgrades also have an upkeep? (It was specifically stated vehicles do, but not for training upgrades) I would think they should have a build time and upkeep similar to Civil projects and vehicles. Otherwise they'd either be to expensive (if need to constantly allocate the upgrade cost), or there would be no drawback to upgrading everything as much as possible.

As for a upkeep cost I'm thinking that 1/28 the spent IP on a battalion. I got the number from what a fully upgraded army costs in a large province (20 battalions * 140(Full Training/Equip+Wagon), and divided it up so that the cost would need to come in at 100 IP total, on the rationale that super awesome army would eat the entire MIP, and cut into the civilian production power.

I'm thinking that they'll probably have the same upgrade time as prov. upgrades and the same upkeep as military stuff (IE, 1/5).

Also, wondering when Atlantazon is going to respond to Ossenland's denoucement. I've got my popcorn ready. :D

[up][up][up]You say 2*current level, but I'm assuming that if I have something level 1 and want to go to 3, you would want 2*1+2*2 days, right?

And if I wanted to undo an upgrade, is it instant? Does it take as long as it took to build?

We could have a mothballing mechanic, you stop paying the upkeep and lose the bonus (instantly), but can get it back with some fraction of the construction time later.

Undoing an upgrade would be instant. For going from Lv1 to Lv3, you'd have to go through Lv2 first.

But if they are instant, why bother with level 2? 2*0 time = 0 time total tongue

I said undoing an upgrade is instant. If you wanted to upgrade from Lv1 to Lv3 (not the other way around) you'd have to go through Lv2.

So are we at the 1-week mark where we get a new set of I Ps now?

Outposts should be upgraded and IP reports should be due...though since the game has been so slow I doubt much has changed. tongue

1) How do we officially set up trade relations with other players?

2) Do we get a new supply of conscripts/basic soldiers for each territory equal to the territory size each week?

3) Is anyone still here in this game? Or is it just me?

  1. Send some messengers to them and ask. if they agree, voila.
  2. You have a set amount of conscript battalions per province. Unless that province upgrades, the number will stay the same.
  3. I don't know why it's so quiet. I do hope it doesn't die.

2) So how do we get additional basic troops if we need them? Active recruitment?

The troop numbers given to each level of province pretty much acts as a cap. It's a rough estimate of how many conscript battalions each can support.

Well, I'm still in it (just took my turn), so I'll wait and see if anyone else bothers between now and next week.

I'm always here, lurking. I just wanted to wait for other people to post before I did so, to avoid a double post. I'll have an IP report up tonight, though.

I think it's the sudden realization that this has expanded to Civilization-on-fora, with all its attendant complications. And to think I originally wanted a cushy job refereeing battalion-sized battles.
