Re Congreve Rockets
:
They were used in Napoleonic times, but they were inaccurate at best, and at worst would arc around and nearly blow up the launcher. The quote on the linky page best describes it.
EDIT:
Also, would electric motors really be feasible at this point? I mean, if steamships are still new...

Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listElectricity...well, this is decades before James Maxwell's discovery of the famous equations. So, good luck and have fun trying to exploit a specific application of that. Before you get to motors you have to figure out electromagnetism first.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Quick search says that practical steam turbines (necessary for practical electricity production, and essentially an electric motor in reverse) weren't around until 1884, meaning that they don't exist yet, so one would probably need to start by improving existing steam engines.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listAye. You can work on the theory of electricity and you might be able to hammer out the connections between electricity and magnetism in a decade or so, but actually getting it into any practical application will take lots more research.
What is more, research alone won't mean you can build them. That requires a thoroughly modernized infrastructure; there's a reason third-world hellholes don't come up with world-beating designs and then mass-produce them.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Alright, verdicts on research:
- Better steam engines: For advanced metallurgy, one week.
- Bikes: You can get a proof-of-concept in 3 days, you'll need to spend money upgrading your infrastructure to get the steel mills necessary to mass-produce enough for an army.
- Railways: Infrastructure. The tech is there, no need to research it.
- Flares: 2 days.
- Rocketry (both counts): 2 days.
EDIT: Also, all colonization worked fine, for those of you who were wondering. It'll be a while before anyone runs over a province that will fight, probably.

"Your mission is not to nuke the squid god." —Faramir
That won't be a problem in the future, though, as the natives will see Xarkan's bikes and flee in terror
. So if I wanted those steel mills, do I just buy a new level of civil infrastructure under civil upgrades, or do I throw points at it in a different way, like a research project?
Anyway, I made up some names for the provinces, and added that ETA to my post.
Alrighty.

I'll get to that ASAP. Expect to see it in the place of electricity on that list.
Put it into infrastructure. Also, I was figuring bikes as a battalion upgrade.
...most of the land units are going to be battalions or upgrades thereof, aren't they.
Map will be updated with names when I can get to it.

"Your mission is not to nuke the squid god." —FaramirSo, should we be doing something today? How often does IP regenerate?
Also I added some ships, based on what I described earlier. They're in the profile.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listIP doesn't really "regenerate." It's less like mana or MP or what have you and more like watts. As you put it into more things, you have less and less to use, but if you stop using those things you get the watts back. Yes, I know, not a perfect comparison but it's the best I have.
"Your mission is not to nuke the squid god." —FaramirHow does it work for building province improvements then? Will the Infrastructure/Shipyard eat 20/45 IP for the rest of forever or will it finish construction then have a smaller upkeep.
In the latter case are the construction times listed somewhere?

Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listSo um yeah, no clue if I completely derped or not on the IP report but hey, if something's wrong Wysp or Sabre will yell at me xD Also, I'd like some sort of idea on what 25 CIP into LTA travel will get me in two weeks, so I can adjust the time scale according and know what I'll actually be getting rather than picking numbers out of a hat xD
@ Upgrades: I...had not thought about that. I'll let you guys know as soon as I talk it over with Sabre.
@ Humva: I'll talk it over with Sabre, don't expect anything too big.
@ weekly IP reports: Feel free to post whatever you want in between the reports. The only reason I want them weekly is so that I, as a GM, can keep tabs on what everyone is doing.

Also, I'm a bit confused about what tech level we're supposed to be at, if it's supposed to be roughly early 19th century but there's already existing rocket technology.
Oh, and I see you have level 2 HUMINT - what does it cost to level up an area of an intelligence agencies, is it just the base cost of the entire agency?
