Yeah, having him say he'll make the people of Earth his "minions" really dilutes his threat. It makes it seem like he intends for them to have a choice in the matter.
Today was the first day of my local comic-con. PlayStation has a booth here, and Nitro-Fueled is playable at it. Three tracks are available: Crash Cove, Tiger Temple, and Polar Pass.
Like the N. Sane Trilogy, it's pretty much a 1:1 remake and it plays exactly like the PS1 original, but with one major difference: the opponent racers are actually challenging this time, and you have to put in real effort to win the races now.
Glad to see that they fixed that because the PS1 original is pathetically easy to beat.

So am I the only one not bothered by the loss of the trophy girls and the slight change in wording for Oxide's little spiel? At the end of the day the game is still going to be amazing and I'm still going to play it and love it.
Iíve seen that the communities who have that big of a problem with the changes are a Vocal Minority, to put it gently.
Kinda sad the girls are gone. They were a personal Ensemble Dark Horse for me.
Tawna got to stay, so why were they removed?
Like it or not, Tawna was an essential part of the first game's story (what little there was anyway); pretty much the whole reason Crash went on his whole quest thing after escaping from Cortex was to rescue her (and kick ass and take names along the way). The trophy girls were just... there.

I don't have a big problem with the change in Oxide's wording. It's not some deal-breaking change. Doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion that it's a bad change, if a very minor one. You can criticise an aspect of something while still liking it.
I do wonder about the rationale behind that change in his line, though. They had no problem with keeping a similar line from Crash 2 where Coco says that Cortex plans to turn everyone into his mindless slaves, so what makes Oxide's line any different?
I'm less surprised about the removal of the trophy girls. When the playable roster of characters is so overwhelmingly male, having somewhat sexualised bandicoot women as literaly trophy girls is kind of problematic. I do wonder if any of them will turn up as unlockable racers, though.

Now this is how you do DLC, that's a lot of characters too.
Yo the Trophy Girls are back!
I mean, the "Nitro Squad"
Spyro confirmed. This is bigger than the Smash reveal for me tbh
I'm glad the Trophy Girls and Tawna are indeed in the game as racers. That, along with the probable addition of Nina, saves the game from being a sausage fest to an embarrassing degree.
I'm less thrilled about the presence of Chick and Stew. On one hand, it's kind of nice that the developers are making such a grand love letter to Crash's entire history. On the other hand, they (along with the rest of the characters from CTTR) are bland and obnoxious characters who I'd have liked to stay totally forgotten.
I thought they were pretty decent here. I think some of these characters could definitely be Rescued from the Scrappy Heap.
Part of my problem with them as characters is inherent in their concept, though. Chick and Stew came along during a time when the franchise had more or less completely ditched one of its own central concepts; that the anthropomorphic animals were all mutants created by the evil scientists. The series started introducing a bunch of talking animals who were just there with no clear reason. Chick and Stew (along with the Viscount from Crash Boom Bang) were probably the most blantant examples of this; what with them just being random chicken news anchors with no connection to Cortex or any of the other scientists.
I get that this may seem like a petty complaint — Crash is a silly series so one should hardly worry much about deep lore — but I really feel that abandoning or downplaying this central concept came at the cost of some of the series' identity. Crash Tag Team Racing in particular feels like a game concept totally unrelated to Crash that just had Crash characters slapped onto it.
I always figured Chick, Stew, Pasadena, and Willie were mutants created by Von Clutch, given that it was stated he was a fan of Crash and co's antics (this goes a long way to explaining how the heck Willie Wumpacheeks exists).
Anywho, man, this is an N.Sane amount of content! The Trophy Girls, Tawna, Spyro, who knows who else (reaaaaaaaally hopping Nina is a later addition in this mode)! It's enough to make the Crash fan in me blissfully happy.
Eh, here is hoping Spyro comes with other Spyro characters, would be nice to have a crossover grand prix rather than just "Spyro is here". But won't complain at all. Between this, Spyro coming to the switch, and Banjo & Kazooie making it to Smash, I am throughly happy. Other than the Pokemon issue, but oh well.
Btw, the roadmap shows that each Grand Prix will have multiple playable characters.◊ Baby T's also has Baby Crash and Baby Coco (we full Mario Kart).
Spyro's will probably have multiple characters from his series.
I can't believe Crash Bandicoot is finally going to be met Baby Crash Bandicoot.
I'd still like an explanation for what the hell Coco was doing during Crash 1. Sure, I could stomp out a WMG about what she was doing, being N. Gin's assistant or something, but it'd be completely off the cuff.
WOO, TAWNA'S BACK!
We actually get to hear Tawna's voice for the first time judging by the multiplayer gameplay I have been seeing. The new unique tracks also look tons of fun too

I'd love a Coco game that fills the gaps between her creation and her meeting up with her brother
Happy we get to play as the Nitro Girls.
The blue haired Nitro girl is my favorite
I like the one that appeared when you won as Polar, Pura or Penta. Liz was it?
