I'm so happy, I can barely even form coherent thoughts right now. I especially love how they're fleshing out the opening cutscene while still keeping the same beats to it. God, I wish I could go ahead and play this right now.

Also, it looks like they're adding Crash's dance to the first game, so that gives fuel to the theory that they'll make the first game more in line with the second and third like by making it easier to get the gems and whatnot.

UPDATE: TIME TRIALS FOR THE FIRST TWO GAMES CONFIRMED!

[up][tup]

Here's some gameplay footage:

[1] (Sorry; I don't know how to properly embed a video on the page).

Man, they're really trying to make this a step-by-step remake of the originals. I recognize the exact layout of some of those crates.

[up]I got you covered:

We get some nice gameplay footage of the time trials, and yes, they also add yellow time boxes to the first two games. This is gonna be worth buying for that alone even if you prefer the PS 1 graphics.

And it looks like they've added the floaty crate count box at the end of each level in the first game, so they've proooooooobably updated how the gems work to be less frustrating. It still takes ten jumps instead of five to break the bouncy crates, though. Weird.

I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.

Ooooh, the music's so good. SO GOOD.

Also, I noticed that the bonus rounds now count for the box total. At least it seems they got rid of the "need to get all the boxes in one life" thing now, so no big deal there.

[up] So wait; according to that image, N. Gin, N. Tropy, Uka Uka, and the Komodo brothers are going to be in the first game (unless it's supposed to be a trilogy-wide photo). Which begs the question: WHERE'S COCO????

[up]No, I'm pretty sure it's a trilogy-wide photo. It just doesn't include every character.

the major ones missing are Ripper Roo, Tiny, Dingodile, Coco, Puma and Polar.

[up]"Pura," not "Puma," you mean.

Here's a full playthrough of the demo. It also shows off the entire opening cutscene, so spoiler warning... kinda, sorta, not really. I mean, it's basically the same as the original version.

Hmm, seems like Lex Lang is giving a more subdued performance here. I love it. Also, it's nice that they had Tawna fight back a bit as opposed to falling for the Standard Female Grab Area like in the original.

By the way, do my ears deceive me or is that N. Brio's voice actor from Mind Over Mutant?

[up][up]I believe it is, just he's putting on the original character this time round like the other actors here are. Harnell also sounds like Brendan O' Brien's Crash rather than a perpetual babbler. Lang sounds a bit odd for the first few seconds, but after that he's spot on (after Twinsanity it was already apparent he could do a subtle, deeper Cortex like Clancy Brown's).

Interest: Crash's shoes fly up at varying heights after he falls down a pit.

A bottomless pit.

No Wrath Of Cortex remaster makes me sad, but it is outside the core trilogy so I'm ultimately more "meh" about it.

[up]Maybe they'll gradually remaster all the games over time, Pokemon-style. I mean, Wrath of Cortex would be really easy to do since they've already got all the 3D models and gameplay physics and whatnot from the first three games.

If they do eventually remaster Wrath of Cortex, though, they'd sure as heck better add in checkpoints for the time trial modes... Also, they need to make it so you don't have to make 1st place to get the gem in the Smokey and the Bandicoot level.

Of course, what I'd really like to see is a Twinsanity remake that adds in even the tiniest fraction of the cut content. Probably never gonna happen, though.

It'd also be pretty cool if they remade The Huge Adventure and N-Tranced as bonus content or something. That'd be pretty easy to do since so many graphics are recycled from the PS1 games anyways.

Unless they work with Traveler's Tales on a Twinsanity remake how would they know about any of the cut content?

[up] Seconded.

Also, please — NO WRATH OF CORTEX REMASTER!!! The faster we forget that game ever existed, the better.

....Okay, maybe if they fixed its (many) problems.

The loading times were the only problem of that game...and maybe some control issues in regards to its gimmicks, but other than that it was fine.

A fine Crash Bandicoot 3 retread...

I'm glad they're keeping Maurice Lamarche on board as N. Brio, but giving him all the character's old trademark tics and stutters.

I'm not super impressed by the graphics, though.

A refined WOC that was made on par with the originals would interest me, while it was half assed, I liked some of the level genres and designs used in that one, just they were very roughly handled. They'd also have to make Coco fully playable and retool some of the vehicles to be optional or more enjoyable.

Twinsanity I'd see being harder to make though. To give it justice they'd have to add a lot of the unused content, which would mean contacting a lot of the original designers and looking up the resources.

I don't see a point in remaking every game (though a remaster of CTR with some additional playable characters and online multiplayer would be just aces). Just move on to making something new.
