I think that page was probably flagged by someone who wasn't familiar with the policy and took "content violation" in a general sense, as the page was created by the persistent Mass Effect troll.

I don't know which is worse, the person doing that or the members of our troper body who egg him on.

Was that directed towards me? If so, I apologize; that wasn't my intention. I was simply trying to explain why it probably could be zapped from the queue.

We're okay, it was simply a misclick — tsstevens meant to report it via Holler.

Sorry to sound off topic but figured I'd post this here to avoid getting in trouble. Troper phoenixyfriend just removed Chunin Exam Day from the recs page citing "Chunin Exam Day violates the content policy due to multiple underage sex scenes (AKA - the guidelines referring to no stories with intercourse between characters under the age of 16 being allowed as recs)".

To my knowledge the fic passed the board's test a while ago. Has something changed since then? If so take it back down, but I'd figure I'd bring it to your attention.

Links about it are right near the top of this post — it has indeed been brought up.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

The guidelines do not say "no intercourse with characters under 16". They do say "no explicit/graphical intercourse between adults and minors", "no explicit/graphical intercourse between teens", and "no intercourse whatsoever between preteens".

The proper response to concern about a work meeting these guidelines is to flag it for review, not delete it arbitrarily. If it's already been reviewed and passed, then it does not get brought up again. I'm going to take a look at that article history.

Well, since it was restored, I see no need to act further, unless that troper tries to delete it again.

@10008: They are talking about Fanfic Recommendations, which have the 16+ rule. Chunin Exam Day passed the Content Policy test but I do not think it passes the 16+ test for Fanfic Recs.

I thought the 16+ test only applies to when there are explicit sex scenes in the fic.

I think so, but fanfic recs are something I am admittedly fuzzy on. I don't recall any explicit sex scenes in it, but it has been a while.

The fanfic recs page review was done before I signed on to the P5, so I'm fuzzy on exactly how that was supposed to go as well.

Could be related to the fact that while trope page may or may not be viewed as endorsing the work, Fanfic Recommendations are very definitely doing so?

Yes, that's it. Maybe it should be pulled on that basis, but not on the basis of the work itself violating the content policy.

[up]But isn't Fanfic Recommendations supposed to represent the views of the individual writing the recommendation, not TV Tropes as a whole?

I don't recall any explicit sex scenes in it, but it has been a while.
No explicit sex scenes whatsoever; all are "implied", and AFAIR the scenes cut off before they even take their clothes off or do any heavy petting anyway. The only significant potentially objectionable instance that was brought up was when Sakura finally broke down emotionally in one of the later loops and "offered" herself to Naruto — the manner of which strongly implied that she'd not mind being on the lowest possible rung of the harem hierarchy — in a desperate attempt to stop being left out in the dust as the weakest of the entire Konoha group; in context, it's Played for Drama rather than fanservice, since it comes after she eavesdrops on Sasuke telling Kiba how she's weak, would only hold them back, and she would never get better. Oh, and she's been a Chew Toy (or whatever similar trope that applies) in every loop at that point, including the one in which this scene takes place.

Scene is near the end of this chapter, for reference.

[up][up]Tell that to people outside the wiki. But yes.

[up] If it's not explicit enough to be considered porn, then it seems fine. Implied or offscreen sex between teenagers is not proscribed under any of our rules.

[up][up][up]... not really, given that it's supposed to present a list of good fics as a service to readers.

We have forum threads for more individual stuff, and if there's overwhelming consensus that a fic doesn't meet our quality standards, it gets booted.

  1. This thread is not for discussing the purpose of fanfic recs.
  2. Questions about fanfic recs and 16+ fall under the purpose of the thread in Projects about lewdness cleanup, since we cleared the work in the 5P discussions.

Not to be contrary for the sake of being contrary, but Fanfic Recs as they relate to the content policy are totally game for discussion to me.

But our fanfic recs policy predates content violations, I believe. They should be handled elsewhere.

In a nutshell, we cleared the work through P5. Therefore its appropriateness for fanfic recs goes in another thread. Done.
