I mean, find me a troper who doesn't have at least a passing desire to go to Hogwarts, and I'll show you me eating a hat.

But what about other schools of magic, high technology, or badassitude out there?

Any particular dojos you want to check out, obscure colleges to browse shelves that might contain knowledge not fit for human perception you want to browse?

Is there this one teacher at this one seemingly normal high school you really want to take a class in?

Well, let's talk about 'em here.

My fictional application list has Gunnerkrigg Court in first place, with the College of Winterholdbeing my magical safety.

I don't want to go to Hogwarts, actually. I don't think I'm going to be able to learn anything of practical value there.

I want to go to the school, or the world of Angel Beats. You can basically play live Counter Strike there, with infinite respawning.

Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.

Is there any fictional school that requires all of the students to learn martial arts?

Superhero school. Ninja academy. The bruce lee center for martially gifted kids.

I actually once managed a forum about a high school for superhero trainees. Basically superpowered highschoolers and their superpowered teachers. I miss the concept, but it never really took off.

Hungry_Joe=Hungry_Joe.eat(hat);

Although in all seriousness, a martial arts school or some combat-based one in general would be pretty cool.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. That'd probably be cool.

Can't think of anything else right now; my brain isn't in its "active" mode yet.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. And also spiders.

The school of magic of Roke, from The Earthsea Trilogy. I loved the way in which it was depicted in A Wizard Of Earthsea, and I'd love to study there (nut without the "trying to summon the spirits of the dead for a bet", though — seriously, Ged, what were you thinking?).

And I like truename-based magic much better than Hogwarts' insipid "wave sticks of wood and mangle Latin" brand of magic...

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.

The Arcane University. If nothing else for the ability to enchant my pants so I could walk on water.

Note: I haven't played Skyrim yet, so I don't know what the College of Winterhold is like.
