@Aon

True, but "horrible people" doesn't necessarily mean in jail.

And I'm not okay with jailing people solely based on thoughts or feelings. Now if they are harassing people by espousing those beliefs then so be it. Try to get them in court and in prison. If they touch a child then try it. Until then no.

^I'm also not okay with "horrible people". I only continue to use it because others do and I can't convince them not to.

Someone that's perfectly fine with fantasizing about molesting children is basically the definition of horrible.

Like I said earlier, please don't get into this now, Aon. You won't get anywhere, and you'll just get the thread locked.

One of this site's primary principles has always been that how you say things matters more than what you say. There are limits, of course—we actually changed the rules to get rid of a white supremacist who kept saying awful things in a polite way—but I still like how arguments like the ones Aondeug has made in this thread are responded to rationally rather than simply nuked.

Not nuked Yet.

Just saying, Eddie has been rather short tempered lately, not that they should be nuked necessarily.

@Rigo: Not much to say, really. He tends to get called a white supremacist when we bring up the topic, but he explicitly denied being any such thing, and I don't recall him even being a racial separatist (though he was a cultural separatist with a hate-on for Muslims.) His primary asshatery came from good old-fashioned racism—he kept talking about "inherent racial differences," but said he didn't view those differences as a good thing or a bad thing. Anyways, he always acted within the rules, so we just made racism against the rules, and there he went.

Edit: Forgot about the Stormfront thing. That came as a surprise, since he didn't advocate a lot of the stuff they advocate.

Can I hear the story about the white supremacist?

Once upon a time there was a white supremacist who passive-aggressively toed the line to say abhorrent things without getting banned. Then he got banned. The end.

I have to say that I feel that this atmosphere of fear I've noted recently is not good for the community at large.

Of course that'll probably get replaced by an atmosphere of RAEG when the news fully comes out.
