Its one of the rules of the internet. If you spontaneously think of a fetish it already exists and there is a whole site dedicated to it.

@Rigo: I'm a physics major.

I am well aware of XKCD's wetriffs, and the sheer shock that arose when it didn't exist. And was subsequently created by XKCD.

I choose to ignore the "rules" because I try to avoid the site they come from.

So I take it you are not fond of it then?

Of that site? No. No I am not.

I like their stance on Scientology, and I like some of their principles regarding protests, but there is far too much else there that I can't support in any way.

Well, I just occasionally read the comic, so I really am not completely aware of what those stances are.

And I actually remember I read the fetish rule first at questionable content, another comic I haven't been reading lately.

Oh.

No no no. I love XKCD. It is awesome.

I was referring to 4chan.

[up] Ah good. I think we are of one mind there then. Used to post a while back, not anymore.

@Grimview: Stuff about fetishes bothering people on here when I'm not bothered? That's unusual. tongue

@Loni: I'm a squeamish bastard with regards to medical diagrams. I know enough of how the body works, but the diagrams and the sheer clinical treatment of things makes me blanch rather easily. /shrug/ Always has.

Really? That's just about the opposite with me. Clinical contexts make everything so much easier to deal with. I'd probably have nightmares for months if you showed me something like the Saw films, but I'm totally fine with medical gore.

Saw bothers me.

Repo The Genetic Opera made me laugh my ass off.

It's very much context dependent.

And clinical stuff makes me squeamish because it makes me acutely aware of things in my own body. Reading how the juices and gases in your knuckles are what allows you to "crack" your knuckles, in like grade 8, made me incredibly lightheaded. tongue

I prefer my body works away silently and I just let it do so while I think about other things. tongue

I loathe Apple on the basis of the sheer insanity of their claims about how if they made iPhones in the states they'd cost thousands of dollars.

I've seen the economic analysis. If they upped the price by 20% - that is, a $300 phone becomes $360 - they could maintain exactly the same profit margin in a modern, automated factory with fewer workers, North American employment and wages, and much lower human cost and suffering.

They're full of shit and a terrible company as far as human rights and standards go. I own an iPod, but I've had it for five years and never intend to replace it. It was also a gift.

If RIM were releasing a computer OS any time soon, I'd be all over it, as I'm sick of Windows and Mac in general. I use Windows purely because I play games. If Ubuntu could handle it all, I'd use it exclusively. tongue
