I just don't like things in the vein of psychological egoism.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.
you can not like it all you want, but it's what we are.
There's no captain who prefers a slow ship to a fast one. There's not a carpenter in the world who prefers a dull tool to a sharp one. And there isn't a human born who prefers being ignored to being honestly appreciated by other humans for their skills, merits or behaviors.
We all seek validation for what we do; why else do we do it? Every yardstick we set ourselves against is one of society's making. The question isn't "do I care what others think of me?" but rather "who do I care about impressing?".
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~But that doesn't mean everyone does the equivalent of waving a big sign saying "NOTICE ME!"
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.Actually, it does. we just get more selective about caring who reads the sign as we get older.
Look, there's no value judgment attached here. I don't see any evil in seeking fame, glory or simple validation, the evil comes (or doesn't) with what one does in the course of pursuing such a goal. One has to decide who they wish to impress and how far they are willing to go for it. Wanting someone somewhere to be impressed is a natural human wish.

If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~I'm not talking about people seeking validation in the course of everyday life, I'm talking about people who, say, like to steer all conversation to the topic of them.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.I am probably the most passive-aggressive person I've ever encountered, bar none. The fact that I can hold a grudge doesn't really help much.
On a lighter note, I mistyped "much" as "music" for some reason.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.

..which is what everyone I've ever met has tried to do to a greater or lesser degree.
