This is actually related to the Google incident. While going through and trying to clean up pages in order to get our ad funds back we stumbled onto works we had no idea we were hosting like Chibi Usa's Seventh Birthday that were just beyond the pale.
Seeing the fact that we were hosting violent paedo porn, Eddie understandably freaked out, deleted the page, and decided that we needed to have a few standards.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick
No offense but Eddie said this is not about the Google incident, but something that was considered and was put in.
The words I remember (though I can't find it for some reason) were, "This is not about the Google incident. This has been thought out for some time." I know it deals with the same subject matter, but I also know that the general stances before and after the non-Adsense cuts were different.
Now using Trivialis handle.I'm not sure I buy that these thing are unrelated, but I'm gonna go ahead and dole out the benefit of the doubt. I've had too mush paranoia for one day.
Now, I absolutely freaked out when I found out about these cuts by total accident, and I'm still getting over the shock of the initial panic. I think the best thing to do is definitely to make an announcement, because otherwise more people will stumble into this, have no idea what's going on, and not be able to find information.

is the best suggestion, if a headline/announcement is considered too much.
Also, banners on the cut pages should say "This page was temporarily cut so its content can be reviewed. It may or may not be restored later, depending on the review. Please be patient and don't delete links pointing to this page." With links to the summary sandbox.
The summary sandbox should include a link to the "petitions for review" thread (with a warning about staying on topic).

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.A sandbox page to keep track of various changes to the wiki, where they were/are discussed, and have brief descriptions of what was going on?
Why does that sound familiar...
FYI: I created that page in response to comments in the Forums, site activity, and Wiki Headlines thread
I don't think it's too much to ask for a main page alert about policy change. Isn't the whole point of changing the policy to change what people post?

The mods' excuse was that it would cause a shitstorm. Well, larger than the one we're having right now, anyways.
I think everybody should know! Keeping the information secret deliberately is not nice! I found out by accident, and I got mad. We should prevent that from happening to other people, or it will be worse.
I mean, it's like when people say the government keeps aliens a secret because people would panic? That's what they're doing. I never thought anybody actually thought like that.
More pluck than an Alabama banjo festivalWell, it's not really a secret as long as it's in Wiki Talk, the dedicated place for it.

I agree with this sentiment!
Yes, but what about the people who don't visit the forums? Who don't even know one exists? They'll probably be pretty angry when they see something they like cut.

That's a problem, then. There should be encouragement to come here to actually voice your thoughts about the wiki matters.
And not to the "rest of the forums" but to the whole wiki. There shouldn't be a bias focusing on the forums alone.

Now using Trivialis handle. We all know that not everybody looks at Wiki Talk. I wouldn't be here except by accident, and with something this big, I would want to be told, and I'm upset that this whole thing just kind of appeared one day when I couldn't find the page for Lolita.
Spread the word, or something.

Not everyone is going to visit the fora, nor should they have to really. The basic administrative pages should take care of things that's why they are there.
All I know is most tropers don't post in the fora, let alone Wikitalk.

Maybe a Headline?
Yup.
Honestly, how would (almost I think?) anyone who doesn't visit the forums would know about what's happening?

Alt account of Angeldog 2437.I don't even know anymore about announcements/headlines ordeal. I'm just saying that not everyone editing the wiki may be focused on the metawiki matters, and those that do care should find a way in here, and thus this place should be easy to find.
Now using Trivialis handle. This is intentional; experience has shown that making a headline for stuff like this just cause us nothing but unnecessary, derailing trouble from those with a less-than-adequate ability to maintain self-control over their actions.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. That much is understandable, all I'm asking for is an admin-page update saying : "Hey, we no longer accept stuff of this nature."
That way new-stuff isn't added while we are getting rid of the stuff.

It probably wouldn't hurt. I can understand not wanting to make a huge announcement, but it would be good to have an "official" sandbox page that we can link people to when they ask about it. That way everybody is on the same page rather than having a bunch of different explanations flying around.
