I'd actually prefer 7, for reasons I've already mentioned. Mainly due to the ability to have alternates and to have a bigger knowledge pool to draw from.

I don't particularly care what the exact number is, but again, the sum knowledge of the council needs to cover every form of fictional media to a certain degree.

So if five is the number you have set, it means the bar is going to be very high for being appointed to the council. You'll need five different people who are very well versed in a number of different mediums and genres, and given these people are human (at least, I hope they are), there can be almost no overlap in what forms of fiction they follow.

[up] Too high, then the council will be too inefficient. We'll wait and see if five is an okay number.

An odd number ensures there's no ties.

I didn't mean it should be raised too much, even 7 would be good. Though I'm not saying 5 won't work, just that 7 might be a bit safer. We won't know either way until after it starts.

I don't know if this has been answered yet, but I'd like to ask:

Some of our work pages include both a source work and an adaption of that work. If one but not the other is porn, would it be possible to only cut the porn work?

That would be good, such as for FSN.

Cutting the porn work and leaving the non-porn adaptation is something I can definitely get behind.

That seems like it would be something that the council would be able to discuss. I read earlier that there were some products that had two releases, one adult and the other more PG. Is that the kind of thing that you are pondering?

Yes, I've mentioned that too. I support that we treat those separately, just like we can treat a work and its unsuitable fanfic separately.

That as well. I'm mostly thinking of our Anime and Manga type pages. Adaptions are massive on the other side of the Pacific. Bleached Underpants and all.

Yes, that's the sort of thing. There's a lot of works that have a porn version and then a completely clean version. Often times the non-porn version is downright G rated. It's one of those odd things.

I am hoping the council will have more than just the two options.

Yah, I mean I read that Fate Stay Night got cut, having only seen the Anime, I was curious as to why. Apparently it was suggested that it had sex scenes in the original. The Anime adaption didn't even have implied sex to my knowledge.

Options currently on the table for the Council are: Cut, clean, lock, keep page as starting. That's four.

The converse case also probably deserves a thought: Original Video Animations of some kinds of manga (notably Boys' Love Genre works) tend to focus on the sex scenes, and are thus more porn-ish thhan the manga; will that reflect on the suitability of the source material?

OK, so I guess I walked in late and I hope you can forgive me for not being able to read every page before me right now, but what is the recent Google incident he was talking about on the first page? Is that what started this whole thing?

[up] No official description is available at this time, but it appears Google either took issue with the Naughty Tentacles page or had a complaint about it, and it had to be cut.

At this point, it looks like we really do need a forum-wide announcement on what's going on. It's better than having all sorts of crazy rumors flying around.

To sum it up: "This proved not to be enough when somebody complained to Google about the Naughty Tentacles page (which already had Adsense disabled), and Google pulled the plug again."

This new policy is not directly related to that, however. We actually had a more moderate approach in response to Adsense issue, but I don't know what happened with it.

[up]Should we make a sandbox page with accurate descriptions on exactly what happened during April? There's been several major and sudden events.
