I don't remember that, actually...wasn't he at least a whole 1/3 of the focus in that?
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I know that Spoony's fans are horrible little <REDACTED>, I just never heard that specific <REDACTED>storm.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I tink that's a bit of creative history to be honest. While a few people were being asholes, by an a large peole were mostly critiquing the structure, plot and pacing of the "movie" and the implementation of the Insano storyline. Not so much demanding that there be much more Spoony. But since neither Spoony nor the rest of TGWTG seemed to to be able to take criticism they constructed the narrative that it was all meaningless and stupid complaints like "we want more spoony" by Spoony's fans who are well-known to be entitled assholes. Of course having read the spoony experiment forums every once in a while I really question this common perception as I haven't really seen it that much. Now the comment section on the other hand is really bad, but I don't really think you can call people who write there part of his "fans".
I do enjoy TGWTG videos and Spoony is one of my favourite contributors, but sometimes they just have surprisingly thin skin and seem unable to take criticism and I think it is unfair to paint all of the legitimate criticism that were given as being just "asshole entitiled spoony fans" as some seem to be doing now. Just my two cents.
Except, you know, those were comments on his site, and that's not a constructive criticism.
I've seen more than one TGWTG contributor refer to Kickassia as "a 90-minute Looney Tunes cartoon", so it's presumable that they're well aware of its structural problems.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I'm not saying that there weren't any stupid complaints at all, just not to the extent that it is made out to be. By far the majority of the criticism wasn't the simple stupid strawman that it was made out to be and afterwards it was flat-out forbidden to criticise kickassia at all on the Spoony forums, which admittedly was all Spoony, so that doesn't necessarily mean that other contributors were being as ridiculous.
Also it should be noted that it's much easier to criticise one's own things than it is taking in criticism from someone else. After all those other people don't know how hard you worked, what your circumstances were etc. It's kind of like how most people will criticise their country to hell and back when speaking with fellow countrymen, but will get really defensive once a foreigner starts criticising their country. In that case it's a little more understandable though, since foreigners most likely really do not know exactly what they are talking about. With a piece of media, it can be judged on it's own without ever needing to know anything but what you saw, though knowing background information will certainly enhance your criticism.
All I'm really judging is that one case, not necessarily all of TGWTG at all times. In that one case Spoony, Rob Walker and a few others did come of to me as making a tempest in a teacup and strawmanning most of the criticism of the movie.

I just generally avoid official forums of any kind. It never goes well...
So do we have a date for the special?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?![]()

You are aware that criticism works both ways, right? Just as fans are allowed to criticize something, the makers are allowed to defend it. For example, I don't care if my own written stories are worse than Twilight. I'll still defend them and still bash Twilight for as long as I live.
I gotta say, that's hyped me up pretty well.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle....and WMGing on the TGTWG forums that the 4th year signals "the end of the site" will start in 5, 4, 3....
Linkara mentioned in the comments of his latest video
the events of the 4th year takes place before his current arc. I suspect he would have said otherwise if there were any gamechanging endgame plans after the 4th year

Stomping on your fingers as you're clinging on to the abyss-noms on the delicious ominousness- Consider me hyped.
Expandy thoughts: Obviously it's going to be as silly as ever, but I think this time the tone might be set more consistently. As much as I loved Suburban Knights, it went too quickly from farce to horror to oh fuck tears Ma-Ti still got Critic his coffee help me, and this appears to have a solid Nothing Is Scarier vibe.
But then I'm basing this on a running time of 1:41, so it's best to ignore me.

The page is called To Boldly Flee
. It already has a YMMV and WMG section.
And for some reason, Wiki-typing the title doesn't take you anywhere yet.

But remember in Kickassia when Spoony fans complained he didn't get enough screentime? I know those people are particularly stupid, but it's a basic fanbase thing.
