Its the Damnable thing about DC... They always revert to the status Quo even when a new direction is literally fixing the problem they are having usually cause the guys in charge are going for synergy or are ... a cowardly superstitious lot who thinks too much change to fast will break the reader base!
Moving Guy into the Reds was literally the best direction the character had in ages
I maintain, The New 52's reversion of EVERYTHING back to to Bruce cept Damian is now Robin has been the ground zero of the Bat bloat plaguing the books
Moving Bruce away from Gotham into the League/Batman inc scene and letting Tim be His Robin while Dick and Damian have Gotham Gave Everybody a defined role. Cutting all that out but keeping all the Robins 'lets not discuss the issues with the Batgirls'
the Superfamily has been lowkey trying to snipe the Flamebird and Nightwing Mantles
back for a while
I mean its easy to get it off Bette cause no one cares about Bette
Idk if Batman inc exists or not ... depends on the writer at this point

This is an outrage against Luminara!I'm under the impression a lot of mistakes were made with Jace Fox...starting with the name "Jace". Tim Fox is a fine name. What, Tim Drake? Thank goodness for last names! Starting yet another Bat in Gotham City, and making him confrontational about operating in Gotham before moving him away. Making the city he moves to New York, not even Albany or Buffalo New York but NYNY. But I think the character still can work.
Fans really liked his original bat suit. I'm not a Batman fan to begin with, so I don't really see it, but fans like that completely concealed face mask. Stick to that. Now as for "major" new changes, don't call him Batman! Bats are the second most numerous morph of mammal after rodent! Coming up with a new name that's basically "bat" without literally calling him "Batman" shouldn't be so hard, and it shouldn't be that hard to market. Now bat's don't have nearly as many common names as rodents, as they're more so cave contaminating bastards than home invading bastards, but use a scientific name if you have to, a foreign language name if you must. It'll make Tim Fox seem that much more intellectual if you do.
Next, you can knock two bats with one rock by officially moving some other Bat family member that no one likes to New York. Is Bette Kane Flamebird really that hated? Fine, make it her. And just drop In-Universe need for the character to be compared to Bruce/Batman. He's a Batman character with a bat like super hero name in a Batman like outfit with Batman like gadgets. No need to hammer it in any more than that. He's a different man operating in a different city, let that speak for itself.
Buldogue's lawyerJace did feel like he simultaneously got the "Look at my awesome OC, so much better than those lame old Bats" treatment and got written as a wannabe who couldn't hack it, really. Or was it because it was clear he would have never be a believable successor to Bruce?

Wake me up at your own risk.![]()
All that Ridley also tried way too hard at giving him his own team. Giving loads of screentime to his and Luke's younger sister Tiffany becoming his Robin equivalent while also making Jace's ex-girlfriend Hadiyah a new Question successor hero called Nobody.
I myself read all of I Am Batman and it was largleh a mediocre comic.
Yeah the new Detective Comics run by Tom Taylor has Bruce sleeping with Joe Chill's daughter who is someone Thomas delivered when she was born and Martha took care of to protect her and her mother from Chill being an abuser.
Huh. Didn't Spider-Man do the exact same thing with The Burglar's daughter?
In any case, trying to give any kind of close, dramatic connection between Joe Chill and the Wayne family never works imo, since the point of Joe isn't that he's some larger than life figure whose family will always be tied to Bruce's, but instead that both Joe and the Waynes could've been anybody in that random moment.
I've said it before
I'll say it again
The Batfamily just needs a fucking Brand spilt and a chunk of them then to go to Bludhaven and STAY THERE
I know WHY they don't do it... narrative convenience 'The true enemy of Batman' cause all of them being in Gotham means all the Gotham Rogues are useable 'so you don't have to make NEW enemies'
But at this point They are just making Suburbs or sections of Gothams their own Gothams and each one gets a bat!
Chill of the Night is the only confrontation where it works, Chill really is just some low end thug who took a hit job after getting out for easy money... and he fucked it up by killing the Waynes

This is an outrage against Luminara!Taylor is pretty much repeating himself, in his Nightwing run he introduced Melina Zucco as Dick's new half sister raised by his origin nemesis Tony Zucco.
And here he's introduced Scarlet Martha Scott as the new big figure of his run, using being Chill's daughter to make her immediately important. He then further inflates her importance by characterizing her as some uber genius prodigy already in charge of her own company or division at a young age and is possibly the mystery villain Asema.
So now Chill's daughter is an ultra genius and potential supervillain.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think in one of the batman beyond comics, joe chills grandson was the dude who killed warren Mc Ginnis, and later became a new Vigilante to make up for what he did

The jake chill thing just felt like a weak attempt to create some pathos cause thats the Beautiful thing about mister Fixx dying in the introduction...
Terry's Not doing this Chasing some Figurative ideal of Vengeance
Batman Beyond 2.0 was really when the whole Its just Batman in the future thing REALLY started to creep in
This is an outrage against Luminara!
That's a good point. Though Powers had his dad killed, and that informs their emnity for one another, overall Terry never comes off as doing what he does as Batman directly motivated by his dad's death the way Bruce was with his parents.
It's more... Terry's a lost soul in a terrible world, who's finding himself by making that world better. It's more about him trying every day to become the person Bruce, his mother, and his father always thought he could be.
More of a coming of age thing, I guess? Less a "he lost his parents the same way Bruce did, and so took up his mission of vengeance!" thing, so making the hitman also a Chill doesn't really have much impact.
I think the storyline was about Joe Chill's descendant redeeming his bloodline, because Chills are just Important like that. There was also the ticking time bomb of Terry working with the man who killed his father with neither of them knowing (which went off during the timeskip). The issue focusing on Jake Chill becoming Vigilante also highlighted that the Waynes were the only murders Joe Chill ever felt regret over, and Jake finally understood what he meant after he killed Warren. It always struck me as a form of Protagonist-Centered Morality, where only the deaths of people the hero cares about matter, everyone else is just a statistic.
I think it's still preferable to Rebirth, where Warren was one of Powers's top scientists and privy to most of his unethical projects and was going to blow the whistle at long last when Powers had him killed. Which he only did because of a childhood encounter with Batman inspired him to be a good person (and that Batman turned out to be a time-traveling Terry). Oh, and Powers knew the whole time that Bruce used to be Batman and Terry was the new Batman and regretted not killing them earlier.
its kinda a toss up... Rebirth is when they go maximum overdrive with the its just Batman in the future with the Death of Mary Mc Ginnis and Bruce just straight up adopting Terry and Matt
but 2.0 really goes all in on the DCAU defilement of making Bruce just the most ABSOLUTE ASSHOLE
like the original Take is Bruce became a shell of his former self cause the crusade literally wore him down and his over protectiveness pushed the others away like Barbara said after what happened to Tim, Bruce could never stomach the idea of another apprentice... another victim.
2.0 and Rebirth really want you to know that NAH Bruce is just THAT much of a prick and him being a lonely spiteful bastard who sucks the life force out of everybody else in the room is completely intentional and he'd have ran everybody else off cause The man has no impulse control nor concepts of boundaries
to the point he ran Diana off for his Justice Lord counterpart cause that one still had his humanity
This is an outrage against Luminara!Sometimes, we get a bit too caught up in a character's flaws for drama.
Batman and his Control Freak tendencies are a prime example.
One Strip! One Strip!

They really should let the other colours nab an Earth Lantern or two, kinda overloading the sector this last century.
