The new TVTropes app (in beta testing)
has resurrected The Badge Shop
and moderators can now give out award badges via the app and anyone who uses the app can add any other badge to their account for free! Badges are viewable in all sections of the site on the app (Forums, Queries, Discussions, TLP and Reviews)
The new app should be available to the general public within the next couple of weeks!
NEW BADGE SUBMISSIONS:
- Users can submit designs for new badges for review via this thread. If approved by the moderators and the admins any moderator can then add that new badge to the badge shop via the Badge Shop Manager.
- New badges should be of higher quality and not appear pixelated like current older badges, we can now upload higher quality images for them.
- New badges should have a transparent background so they don't show a different color background when on night vision.
(Started this thread based on this thread/post.
)
For those that are unaware, one of the ideas for bringing in some money from the forum-side of the wiki is to sell "badges" (sort-of like the Herald one) that you can buy and put up as part of your "gingerbread" .
The shop can be found by clicking on the "basket" at the top of any post. There is a 1 USD -> 1Þ exchange rate.
Each person who buys a badge will also be able to customize the hover text that people see for their particular badges. (Note: Only plain text is usable for a caption. Potholes and other wiki formatting will not work)
There are three slots under the avatar and above the "title" space to display them. You will be able to get to your gallery (where you can chose which ones you want to show and their order) by clicking on these slots.
If you wish to participate in making the badges, they need to be a max of 24x24 pix.
The only things we are completely keeping out of the store are symbols that are generally associated with any religion (the Yin-Yang and such are more known for other reasons), gender/sex/sexual orientation badges, and ones that infringe on copyrights. If you see things that you think do infringe, you probably don't have to worry about it. Those are images that don't match their originals (the heart container), are free-to-use, or the original copyright owner has lost their privilege to go after the "offending" images by not going after them in the past.
Please use this thread for everything badge-related.
The rest of this post is taken up by badge ideas, links to badges people have made, and default text ideas. NOTE: The list has not been updated in quite a while (and will probably never be) now that badge ideas/submissions appear naturally in the thread and go strait into the shop.

Well I suppose there are just enough badge slots for tropers so inclided to recreate that meme. Provided we put the non-Mario mushroom in the shop.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Is this the right link
? I dare not open the video and find out, because the Proms are on.
I remember when that meme was still fresh...I think I actually laughed to the point of tears the first time I saw it.

I remember glorious days when I didn't know about it from kids singing it at school.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. So, since no one seems to be doing those chess things, I made a couple of pawns meself.
The one one doesn't look as good as the black one to me, but that's partly because it's hard to do something at that resolution that's white on white. The lines just didn't look right.
And here's a rook too:

Caaan anybody find me... Somebody to ♠Would prefer the standard symbols ([1]
◊ ... but I think the bishop should have a "bite taken out") for chess pieces.
I dunno, the pieces themselves are pretty darn recognizable. It all depends on what looks better in the space we have, I suppose.
And I suggest going with black and 'creamy' pieces. Like, not straight up white, but that creamy light color some chess pieces are. Ivory, or whatever. It might look better since we've got a white background.

"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicI actually prefer the full versions of the chess ones. They look more like the actual pieces do.
Reaction Image RepositoryI'm a little confused. When you say full version, do you mean the ones in the image rodney linked to?
edit: Oh wait. I get it now.
Anyway, I'm not too attached either way, but I do think that we should keep it consistent. It would look really weird if the pawn was the only one that was the whole piece, and the other ones were all just the tops of the chess pieces.
At the same time, having what's basically a coloured sphere isn't very indicative of a chess piece either, I guess. Also, just the knight's head would look like a horse silhouette rather than a chess piece. Maybe there could be text?

Caaan anybody find me... Somebody to ♠I got some ideas for new badges:
- Pizza Badge
- Fortune Cookie Badge
- Cheese Wheel Badge
- Candy Corn Badge
- Four Leaf Clover Badge
- Doughnut Badge
- Banana Badge
- Badminton Birdie Badge
Sorry, though, I wouldn't be able to make them to save my live.

The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit! There is a good donut template floating around, but I don't know where in the thread. I'll search once I've had a hack at a four-leafed clover badge.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I can do the Chess Standard Symbols once I've got Photoshop back up and running. I was planning to do them earlier, but then my computer with Photoshop died.
EDIT: I've got two candidates, mainly. There are these Unicode characters
◊ which are public domain, which I'll have to see if the details will carry over well. There's also the Cheq Pi
symbols which should be easy to badgeify, but that's a font that's for sale, so I'm not entirely sure how public domain they are.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Candy corn badges are a particularly good idea, imo, but you know me. :P
I've got the standard candy corn:
And the less-standard candy corn:
Also, I don't know if Betty Crocker will get us for this, but here's a fruit gusher!
