If you take the structure of the "mind" of a nematode worm and just throw ludicrous amounts of computational power to it, you won't get a human being or even a dog, I think.

This is supported by the fact that we now have numerous computers that theoretically have the computational power of a human brain, yet we are clearly nowhere close to having sentient machines. *

Ignoring the assholish comments directed towards religion...

Yes, there are a lot of things I'd try to change.

I wouldn't change my homobisexuality for anything. I don't think it's sin. But certain aspects and habits about myself... yes.

Fairy tales?
If I remember correctly, Tolkien or Lewis or somebody else of their group wrote somewhere that religion is indeed a fairy tale. But that this does not mean that it is not true. tongue

That's not even relevant anyway. It's an if-then statement. If heaven, would you? So that comment was totally uncalled for.

Well seeing as how it doesn't exist, I'll only change myself if I feel like it and have a sufficiently good reason to.

Please, that is no insult to religion. Merely me stating my relevant beliefs.

Me being mean would be me declaring that heaven does not exist and you are stupid for believing in it. I really don't care one way or another if someone believes in an afterlife or not.

I don't want to see this get derailed into bashing religion either.

Some people find it that expressing opinions on this subject in a factual manner (as in, saying "heaven/God/The Buddah/Sheldon Cooper doesn't exist"), even if they are just opinions, a bit offensive. *

Gaaaah, I'm leaving this thread before I start arguing again *flies off*

[up][up]The question is, provided that there is a heaven, what would you in response?

If you don't want to answer that properly, then you have no reason whatsoever to post in this topic.

Simple as that.

The OP should have asked for if-then statements. Would save a lot of "lol I'm not religious" posts.

The question simply doesn't work if there isn't a heaven in the hypothetical scnario it's positing.

Just sayin'

Actually, logic says if X is false, both X -> Y and X -> notY are true. So it does work.

Well, I mean it does work in the sense that it's mathematically logical (After all, if there's no heaven, the answer is simply "Nah, there's no logical reason for me to do this") but the question's purpose is clearly to posit an hypothetical scenario in which you could consider the possibility of both heaven and you getting into it. The purpose of the question simply can't be neglected, regardless of whatever bad wording the original post possesses.
