I think he means what Stat governs potion making, is it an int check or a wis check or whatnot
Pony Cinema - The Best Little Pony Video Site on the Internet Pony ForumI'd guess WIS, but I'm not sure. Could be INT.

Reaction Image RepositoryAnyway, the one thing that bothers me is that everything is so low powered. Why should a Private Detective be only 15% better at noticing things that a completely average pony?
The way things are set up now, everyone will be basically the same apart from race. There isn't enough customization to make a meaningful difference.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Story: You talking about the 60/65 point build? We're considering bumping it up to 65/70.
Maybe we could have certain pony races get boosts for certain stats. E Ps get boosts in STR and CON, unicorns get boosts in INT and WIS, and pegasi get boosts in DEX and CHA.

Reaction Image RepositoryThe 65 point is good. Base 60 points makes for a bit of a dim character if I want my character to be an effective tank.
Bull Work using base 65 points:
- Str - 14
- Con - 16
- Dex - 11
- Int - 9
- Wis - 9
- Cha - 6
Base 60 points:
- Str - 14
- Con - 16
- Dex - 10
- Int - 7
- Wis - 7
- Cha - 6

Well, as far as I see it Basic Magic gives a simple grasp of magic that allows Unicorns to cast essential cantrips (like Light), as well as maybe some Talent-associated spells (a slot or two or more Level One spells).
Advanced Magic should definitely give more slots/level, but should be no substitute for playing as a wizard or a caster class.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I'm still not sure what the deal with the cantrips is. Can somebody just give me a rundown on how magic and spell slots work?

Reaction Image RepositoryI would think that it would be fair for the racial stat cap to be raised a point or two. Like you can go 2 points above the stat cap for your racial bonus, all the others are capped at the norm.
Pony Cinema - The Best Little Pony Video Site on the Internet Pony Forum@Jteeth: Cantrips are basically parlor trick magic, or rather, extremely basic magic almost any magic user can harness. For Unicorns this also includes the Light spell.
Level X Magic slots mostly refer to the spells you can prepare between rests. For Wizard magic they get X spell slots, where they can prepare several spells they study on. Sorcs can only choose a handful of spells but they can cast those spells more often than wizards and need no preparation. In traditional D&D clerics get their magic by calling on their deity of choice for power, while Bards are effectively using Song Magic.
@Latenight: Telekinesis is covered as a racial skill, the cantrips Unicorns with Basic Magic start with includes Light. Basic is meant to give access to the racial spells, plus a Level One slot or two if they have a Cutie Mark (Talent).

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! So stats are capped at 16, but certain races have higher caps for certain stats? I could get behind that.
Okay. How do you go about increasing the number of spell slots that are available? Do you just get them each level, or do they come as skills, or what?

Reaction Image Repository@Jteeth: Caster classes get their usual spell allotments, the racial magic allows them to learn magic associated with their Talents (Cutie Mark), so this racial magic must be trained separately from any Class Magic they learn as a skill.
For Wizards like Twi, they get the usual allotment of Spell Slots, plus the spell slots reserved for their racial magic from these racial skills, for example.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!@Drenius: I'm balancing it that unicorns get Racial Magic which they can train (pick up advanced/master skills in) for a few more slots, while caster classes get their usual spell allotments.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Okay, I'm still a bit hazy on it, but I think once I actually see the stuff being used I'll get it figured out.

Thanks Drenius.
See, I might keep him an EP...but he is a potions expert who has a special 'bat stallion' potion among other types.
