They aren't prudes for wanting those pages gone. They are creepy and aren't doing anything good for us.

Why do we need to catalogue every single thing that ever happens, creepy or not?

Now the creepy we don't want. If there's anything sexual in a work, we state as is and no more, and don't get into details about what occurs. The sectionectomy scared me because in the case of Moral Guardian problems, it felt like it'll end up spreading to other Sex Tropes as well. We're trying to prevent this by cleaning up the Sex Tropes of all creepiness and outbound NSFW links.

The problem is, some tropes are a freaking powerful powerful magnet for creepiness.

But they are still tropes. They are devices used by enough creators in their works that they form a pattern. It is entirely possible to give examples of them, and not go into needless detail about them.

I'll admit it, the Anatomically Impossible Sex page was entertaining to read and least it warned not to read if you have a weak stomach.

That's no reason to axe the tropes outright. A trope is a trope, regardless of how much of a creepiness-magnet it is.

That's the site's goal.

List everything that a work uses as a trope. It's part of it, and always will be. Sex Tropes will always exist and we will always note them.

If you wish to discuss the No Lewdness policy, please do so in the appropriate thread.

If it does get too creepy, though, we do sometimes tell people not to put in examples. That way, the only potentially creepy thing that could be there is the article itself, and it's pretty easy to be forensic about that, especially if we're willing to lock the page when it's done.

Because it's an example of a trope. Maybe it's a trope you don't like, from a story you find repulsive, but it's still a trope.

I hate all forms of Scooby Doo beyond all reason, but that doesn't mean I want the tropes it inspired to be nuked. They're part of storytelling, and the wiki's job is to catalog them.

Also, holy God what did I start here?! I only opened the thread for an explanation as to why the page was wiped, how did it get this many posts

Scooby Doo isn't a rape fanfic or something like that.
