@ Bookyangel, lebrel: This site's problem, or rather one of the worst of many problems which this site has, is an extraordinary tolerance for behaviours that are horrendously creepy (to put it mildly), and an almost total failure to recognise genuine social problems (up to and including actual sexually predatory behaviour) in favour of stridently and ardently defending socially unacceptable behaviours on spurious grounds.

Yes, this.
I don't like censorship either, and I'm all about mature and intelligent discussion and/or documentation of...difficult media, but when it's just an abysmal fanfic about Ron Weasley being forced to fellate his own magically enlarged penis (yes, this is included in the Horrible.Fan Fic page), we don't need that awful shit. I would love it if we could just use the notability guidelines in conjunction with this community's better judgment, but it's unfortunately become abundantly clear that some people around here simply don't have better judgment.

"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.@866: If the system works as I think it does, just go to a "cutlocked" page, check the history tab and save the latest rendition, which counts as a full "added". Otherwise just start scrapping bit after bit of the history to recover the contents of the page.
Also, who is defending such behaviours? I was under the impression, when we were notified about this issue the first time (some days ago) that we were going to neuter-and-lock. Heck, we had a multirename thread oriented to that purpose.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?@926 What about things like Heralds Of Valdemar that only mention rape of adults, or rape happens on-screen but is not described even a tiny bit? Even if it's at most one sentence out of a Doorstopper? Because that's a whole hell of a lot of fiction where somebody, anybody, ever gets raped on screen.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. We've banned both of our sexual predators that I know of. We tolerate people who wank to weird stuff if they're not predatory. I think that's a good balance.
@Arcades: I think stories about rape of adults are still allowed.

That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulHow does All Anime Is Naughty Tentacles or Paedo Hunt say that? Both pages are about "this issue is real but misrepresented in media and the eyes of the audience". Neither page really DEFENDS the subject matter.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@ Rhyme: Your mispellings made me think the pages were cut.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.@933: I was scared of those redlinks for a moment until I noticed they are misspellings.
@ 927 : No, we're defending the right to talk about fiction that contains socially unacceptable behavior. There's a difference.
And If you think "all fiction from another country is depraved pornography" is a valid attitude, I think you have a problem of your own. (Pedo Hunt used to be "overblown panic caused by rumors about pedophiles", I dunno when it changed.)

Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.BTW, none of the works I've mentioned are porn, or "about" sex or rape.
Edit:
Exactly. When you factor in Values Dissonance, cultural differences between and within cultures and the length of time that humans have been writing stuff, there's a heck of a lot of things in fiction, even fiction I enjoy and consider worth reading and talking about, that depict stuff I find totally unacceptable. Even, in the case of Classical Mythology, that depict such things in a positive light. Not that I don't have a threshhold where too much of that stuff spoils my enjoyment (because I do).

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Without addressing whether censorship is bad or not, someone who reads the policy pages — at least, someone who read the policy pages this morning — would definitely get the impression that anything that actually exists can be mentioned and can have a page. This thread, lately, seems to strongly imply that not only is that not the case, but it has never been the case.
The child is father to the man —OedipusSo does that mean that the policy was never really there?
Oh noooo

Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Yeah, the main issue is finding the balance between discussion of works that include nasty stuff, and discussing the nasty stuff itself. We want to avoid the latter.
Reaction Image RepositoryThe actual No Such Thing As Notability page has not been changed, I should note.
Anyway, let's just all calm down, and if possible, step away from the thread for a day or two. And for gods' sakes, stop mentioning works that shouldn't get cut. It's painting a target on them.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.@Discar: Fighteer changed it, but Fast Eddie reverted the modification. Apparently, he thought that was the wrong place to put it.
(For a while, he was saying that policy hadn't changed, but I think he said at some point that it had.)

That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulSince apparently the mods won't Wiki Headlines the current situation, I've added it to Wiki Changes.
Also, a word of caring: please don't withhold donations to TV Tropes because of this issue - the mods and staff of the site will need more resources to try and fix this, not less. If anything, as-much-legally-as-you-can condition your donation to a restoration of policies, that sends a clear message about how you care about the wiki.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google? In a day or two we could lose dozens of pages and tropes. We need to state our objections now before FE thinks we're content with the changes in Wiki policy.
The moderation is apparently acting on their own will not Googles. So I see no reason to support censorship.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I'd prefer if there wasn't a headline. If that happens, it becomes more official. Yeah, everyone knows Eddie's policy on reverting, but still.
