For pages with more explicit content, a different ad provider is used instead of Google.

As in, it only affects whether Google ads show up on that page or not.

That was like what, four ninjas?

You know, if the curtain was taken down and the NSFG wall now just screens out Google ads, that should have been mentioned, um, anywhere before now. Certainly there shouldn't have been pages claiming otherwise.

And does the checkbox on the profile page do anything now?

This site is falling apart at the seams. sad Eddie's a busy guy so I don't think he has a lot of time to scour the site's coding for every flaw. I don't know what to suggest except maybe he should hand off some responsibilities to his trusted moderators or ask for help coding the site? I'm at a loss. sad

[up] Maybe bringing in outside help IS the answer.

Wait, if the NSFG curtain is now only "visible" to ads, then why do we still have the "toggle NSFG curtain" button in our forum profile settings?

Isn't ccoa a software engineer? And Morven can code, but I don't remember what he does exactly.

As it seems not, besides giving you something more to click on.

Having Co-Admins was suggested several times, but always shot down.

If the curtain was only for ads, why did we ever get the box?

I think the curtain once worked as described, but not anymore.

Technically speaking, we already have a Co-Admin in Janitor; she's just been busy for the last couple of years, apparently with the real-life aspect of running/maintaining this site (Eddie should know more about this, but I don't want to bother him if he's not in the mood for explaining).

[up][up] It's already got a redirect as The Google Incident. I just personally prefer calling it The Situation. Guess a mod could swap em.

[up]Prolly not the best idea ATM since the mods have been avoinding putting it on the headline to attract complainers and poorly thought out lashing out at Google. Plus the situation is ongoing.

Yeah, the last time a couple of people went a little off the handle at Google. That sort of anger, justified or not, did not help matters then and still won't help matters now.

Doesn't mean people shouldn't be informed though. Just saying. Part of the response type that we get when there are big changes is because they are perceived as Giant Space Flea from Nowhere, to a point, with just reason.

Speaking of the ad server, did anyone else's ads just completely break?

And is this the right place to ask? :/

EDIT: And now they're back, and I look like an idiot. Leaving this post here just in case it happens again.

Will we be informed when the ad server is back and the mods are available for non-emergency things?
