The only option she has would be to break out a bunch of single-target high-point plays, enough to get to second place before Usuzan bites the dust.
New week, new episode!
In which Nodoka doesn't notice a thing. Supernatural shenanigans? Don't exist! Nope! That teleporting miko drawing Wind tiles? Coincidence!
While Nodoka does have an in-series reason for being how she is (digital style puts emphasis on efficiency, and you can't really see your opponent in online mahjong), it's still frustrating how she just brushes off the existence of supernatural abilities. See how when even Hisa tells her to keep an open mind, her reaction in the end is "Eh, why bother."

I think it's been mentioned elsewhere that Nodoka's ability may also be her being a "machine" as a side-effect of her digital play-style. It's the defensive part of her offensive digital play. In the same vein that the best offense is the best defense, her brick-like defense against the supernatural will make sure her digital attacks are unhindered like her match against Momo. The downside is that the defensive aspect goes hand in hand with her offensive play, so she has trouble defending aka playing safe when dealing offensive supernatural abilities like Hatsumi's.
Of course, Nodoka can just be the ignorant fundie who refuses to acknowledge evolution despite all the evidence
"If music be the food of love, PLAY ON" - William ShakespeareEpisode 8:
- Online mahjong playing's good and all, but seriously, Nodoka, things that you consider 'lower than coincidences' happened more than twice right in front of you!
- Sae's doing a good job trying to keep Hitsumi boxed in so far. Can she keep it up? And that monocle's Toshi's, eh? Classy Power Limiter.
- Sweet Sae backstory. And d'aww at Shiro looking out for Sae.
EDIT: When Sae's preparing to seal, her monocle eye glows. When Sae's sealing, her left eye glows. That's cool.

So apparently the Ritz comic is actually going to be a real, continuing thing
. This is the third chapter so far, this time introducing Saya (the artist of Saki Biyori) and Igarashi (Bamboo Blade and Achiga-hen).
I don't mean like an outcry or anything. Surely you'd have some kind of reaction, like bemusement for example, if someone made a manga/comic that's very loosely based on your life.
New chapter out I guess?
Ritz is totally stalling, dammit.
Nothing much happened. Other than confirmation that Hisa is totally not planning on protecting Usuzan.

Kind of like Gundam Sousei (incidentally also done by Owada). Very Loosely Based on a True Story. (Ritz DID injure her arm for example, but not during the research trip to Nara, and had to have an operation for it)

Well, new week, new episode!
For all the complaints about Nodoka being oblivious of the supernatural shenanigans around her, there's no doubt that she's effective. She gained points, which is more than what many could say about the other people on the table.
Also, for those wondering just why Toyone was given such a pleasant voice, hooooo boy, that dissonance when she uses the "From Behind" ability.
Well Nodoka in her "digital goddess" is almost impossible to intimidate, heh it was nice to see that she didn't care at all even if she lost a considerable amount of points against the mini miko.
Yeah that makes Toyone more scary. Also finally a match with Saki. It was worth to wait all these years since the first season.

It's creepy as hell, especially when you consider how dark and sinister she looks in the first place. SlasherSmiles, everywhere!
I like her "It's not lonely~" playstyle too.

But yeah, there is the dissonance and the creepiness, FOR NOW, but when the match ends... ;_;
"If music be the food of love, PLAY ON" - William ShakespeareEpisode 10:
- Finally, Hitsumi unleashes her power! And even then she got blocked(the first time).
- Nodocchi got swallowed up by the darkness. She found it cozy, actually.
- "Toyone From Behind You"... Wise nickname. Yes, her ability's horror genre worthy...
- Wait... TOYONE REALLY IS AN UNDERTAKER! HIIIII!
SEE I TOLD YOU SO, SAKI IS EVIL! EVIIIIIIL!
coughs
Anyway, this is probably the first time anime-only watchers will be exposed to the Demon Lord Saki manga readers like myself know off, and she shows just why she's called as such, almost completely manipulating the table to her whims, especially when Eisui actually started to play serious this time (see that 30k point jump).
Also, is it just me, or did they take away Kasumi revealing her tiles via her boobs? That was one of the sillier parts of that phase of the Side B quarterlies.
And poor, POOR Kyouko. You wanted monsters, you got them.
P.S. I was a little bothered though at how fast this went in the anime. If I remember correctly, the Captain's segment was spread out over ten chapters, so each revelation — Toyone's abilities, Kasumi's One Suit, Kyouko being Kyouko, and Saki the Demon Lord Cometh — was a big thing.

Shrug. This is actually slower than what you'd get if you'd read it as a volume. Saki chapters are very short
Props to Gokumi for bringing that scene to life with awesome BGM. Felt the fear in there.
I even understand the fear the other players felt whenever Saki makes a kan. In the PSP game, whenever Saki makes a kan, the automatic response is SHE'S GONNA WIN so when she does kan and she does not win, there is both a sense of relief and a fear of WHAT IS SHE UP TO.
