Never going to happen. Capcom owns the license for Megaman.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Capcom game on Kickstarter, to be honest...
No regret shall pass over the threshold!Sterling updated the article to comment on that he was wrong about details so props about that to him.(He didn't know that they HAD tried to get funding but failed)
Most people don't have pockets deep enough after all of the other stuff.
And Kickstarter is being flooded with projects anyway. Can't expect everything that looks good to get money, even if Kickstarter locks starting projects to US citizens only.
No surprise that a project that isn't being covered by gaming media at all isn't garnering enough support.
I know, it just wouldn't be so depressing if they weren't so earnest in it.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Wouldn't be first interesting game to not get enough money.
If I had the money I'd fund Nekro. Right up my alley.
Welp, I only have five bucks. Time for word-of-mouth advertising.
Hell, Capcom should put Mega Man Legends III on here. Then their claims of lack of interest would truly be tested.
...
Unless they aim for a ridiculous total.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI'm still sad that Metacell 2 won't get funding =(
I have to say that I think Mr. Sterling has a point. When I noticed something like four different Kickstarter threads in this forum, I looked into it and feared the worst, right off the bat. However, I hope to be pleasantly surprised with the results and be taught that these groups are reliable and not a bunch of asswipes in it for a quick buck scam.
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValThere were already lots of video game kickstarters before double fine adventure. There is just inclusion of lots of old games getting revivals by their old developers.(which would be pretty much career suicide for them to scam :P)
At most they will be too ambitious and fail at making good game

Sterling's a twat, as usual he comes off as generally misinformed and is deliberately being sensationalist to get more hits. Hate that guy and his stupid trolling so much.
As far as oversaturation goes, I think Fargo's kicking it forward thing seems it like it'll do a fair bit towards allowing new projects to survive even after the initial buzz starts to die down. The other necessary element is that games like Wasteland 2, Banner saga and DFA need to be really high quality stuff when they come out. If they can pull that off Kickstarter will get a lot more publicity going for it.
But either way, the reason those initial projects have done well is cause they're developers with a dedicated cult following/they have shown a lot of evidence for their game. I think Tortured hearts isn't doing as well is cause it isn't an established developer and the guy hasn't shown any evidence of his game like concept art or screenshots etc.
Banner Saga probably did so well on Kickstarter is cause they had such beautiful artwork and animations to back up their credentials. Meanwhile Tortured hearts comes off like a fan mod that's probably demanding a bit too much money comaparitively.
I just hope that Sterling's article doesn't slow down LSL's pledging even more =/ I'm worried about whether that project gets funded or not.
All right, well, I guess if this exists....
Omegatech is a top-down 3D shooter for the iOS platform. I could go on and on about our lore, but I'll just keep it simple: it's a world where cat people fight each other by piloting mechas.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a designer on this project. I do not get any money from the Kickstarter donations, but the project meeting its funding goals would obviously indirectly benefit me.
Of course Jim Sterling wouldn't like Kickstarter. He is on EA's side after all.
Huh, I'm surprised how well Echoes of Eternia is doing. I guess JRPG fans DO EXIST.
And that Class of Heroes isn't doing as ell because its more expensive plus nobody plays with psp :P
Also, here is unusual old video game developer/writer veteran kickstarter...(Involved with Gabriel Knight series for example) Its not exactly old game revival or new game, its... Well, read it.
Hard Contact apparently game similar to Battle sports.

... oooooooooooooohhhhhhh
It's already been successfully funded, but Chris Hallen's true tactical shooter project sounds promising.

Hmm, do you guys think that Tortured Hearts is too ambitious project?
That name always puts me in mind of a NWN mod of the same name. Great mod.
Sorry, I don't have much of an opinion on this game.
Class of Heroes has a much higher goal; in raw numerical terms it's roughly six times higher.

^that's cause it is the NWN mod but with a new engine and assets.
Am I the only one who sees this Kickstarter nonsense as being the next money grab from the industry against the consumers?
"Aw gee, we'd really like to make Cult Sequel, Popular Import, or Unique Non Blockbuster Title but we have no money to do so, if only you'd pay us extra for a product we haven't even started on?"
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I'd like to think the backers aren't so gullible as to fall for scams like that.
On another note: Nekro's not getting any love at all, sadly.
^^Also, that would only work as scam if whatever game they do is made by non original developer of original game. Unless that developer wants to be hated/retire for rest of his life Besides, there are lots of not old game kickstarters even before Double Fine Adventure. Of course, someone WILL do scams at some point and someone has done scams with kickstarter and other crowdfunding sites. Though I guess game scams are harder unless you just whip up good looking story and few screenshots without actually thinking up gameplay and such and nobody notices
^Doesn't help that they post gameplay info updates to backers only
Ok, asked Nekro developers about it, apparently it was accidental. Now you can see update page(thats the link on the update page)

My opinion is not much different from his. With so many people doing this already, there's no way that NONE could fund their games with their own money...
I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing Megaman Legends 3 on Kickstarter soon.
No regret shall pass over the threshold!
