For a show that leans heavily on the comedic/bizarre side of things, Space Dandy has a lot of those.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarI'll be calling it a night now. I'll see y'all next week. Have a good night, everybody. :) I hope you all have Sweet Dreams Fuel to help erase that Black Clover episode that was like watching an evil snail.
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!I'm gonna pray & hope that the Black Clover anime doesn't do well enough to warrent a second season.
And if it does hopefully Toonami doesn't get it because they clearly don't like it anymore than we do.
Eitherway night yawl.

Yeah, although I will miss making jokes about it with you all.
So in an Ask.fm response
De Marco more or less confirmed that the reason why One Piece got pulled from the block is because the Japanese Side (Toei) increased the broadcasting rights to more than they were willing to pay.
There's definitely an unfortunate dissonance when it comes to One Piece. It's a merchandise empire over in Japan, so Toei likely expects it to carry the same commanding weight that Dragon Ball does in the West. Which like, it just doesn't. So I can't fault the network for not wanting to fork over the extra money for it.
It's not a hard fact to understand though - it just isn't popular in the west, and where it is, the anime isn't popular at all.
This is just the same sort of not-understanding-the-market that trips up getting manga across to the west.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"No, don't blame 4Kids. 4Kids didn't even want to bring it over, it was part of a package deal and they were forced to.
One Piece has always failed in the west because of the visual style. I like it, a lot of people like it, but loads of people don't. To the people who like DBZ etc. it looks too kiddy, to the majority western anime nerd crowd it doesn't look enough like most anime. It is just never going to be really popular in the west.

Big three is a bit of a misnomer in the sense that yeah, the manga was really popular on scanlation sites, but that never really translated to the anime catching over with people.
Like, the blu-rays/dvds sales enough to warrant Funimation continuing to dub it, but One Piece was always leagues less popular than Naruto and Bleach in the West. And that's the problem that the block ran into last year. Toei wants to charge for the series as if it has the same type of demand in the West that stuff like Dragon Ball and Naruto does, which it just doesn't.

That was a Bittersweet Ending there. :(
