@ Rynnec: Indeed it is.
@ Rojixus: It didn't. Because it's filler.

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarI'm in need of a hug. That game of Age of Empires II went appallingly. x_x
Hey, I had to pass the time somehow while Filler Hell was on.
@ Demetrios: Will a virtual pat on the back suffice?
@ Rynnec: Yeah, no kidding. The last role of his I remember was as Alfred Ashford in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and that game (2009!) was even less recent than this episode of Naruto.

Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!@Silmcoder I feel like I have to point out the blatant hypocrisy with insulting Julietta. When Mika shares every single trait that you are insulting her about.
Julietta is higher functioning then Mika even. Most of the stuff she does is not even on Rustal's orders she is doing it just so she can feel more useful to him. Despite him saying she has already done enough. She has other relationships too she gets along with the other troops and has made good friends with Gaelio.
Also calling her names for causing Shino's death in order to save her boss. When Mika has done the exact same thing.
@asiacatdogblue why are you saying Julietta is a bitch for the sake of it.

@ Rojixus: The show was definitely willing to change up its structure from episode-to-episode, and while its experimental nature might've ultimately done more harm to the show's popularity than good (as this analysis
points out), I commend Space Dandy for daring to be so varied.
That being said, yeah, this episode was a fountain of feels.
Welp, I think I'll be making my exit as well. Night, everyone!

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarJust gonna add my two cents in for this IBO discussion before I call it a night. (Which I should've done over 30 minutes ago...)
Personal biases aside (here's looking at you, slim
), we have to remember a few crucial pieces of information here.
For starters, Julieta only came into play in S2, and she's had far less screen time than Mika, who is one of the main characters. Julieta may, in fact, have perfectly valid reasons (from her POV) for following Rustal, but without enough development or (IIRC) any flashbacks that could convince us of her unwavering loyalty (and need to be useful) to a man willing to break the standard conventions of war to see his ideals carried through as opposed to just reiterating that Julieta feels indebted to Rustal, it could appear more hollow compared to Mikazuki, who gets that treatment on top a few more humanizing moments beyond "What's my orders, Orga?"
There's also the obvious fact that, though Julieta's an Anti-Villain, she's still an underling for Rustal and Gjallarhorn, meaning she's not on the side we're supposed to be rooting for, no matter how sympathetic she may be as an individual.
We can also make the argument that, as pointed out above, Julieta's better off than Mika in some ways despite having the exact same deal as him, such as lacking whatever Ambiguous Disorder Mika suffers from and being more openly connected to her teammates (see her camaraderie with Vidar or mourning the death of her mentor when he's killed by Tekkadan early on in S2). It's just that, again, it's probably going to be glossed over because she's not affiliated with the group we want to succeed, nor is she particularly prominent in the grand scheme of things.
(And as far as combat achievements go, Julieta was saddled with babysitting Iok for about half of this season, so it's not exactly like she had a lot of time to shine. Even then, slim's underselling her capabilities considering that Julieta, a pilot with no biological enhancements like the Alaya-Vijnana System, held her own against Mika whereas most other characters outside of McGillis, Lafter, and Ein post-cyborgization were sent to the boy like lambs to a slaughter. Sure, she admitted that Mika was the better pilot and that she lucked out, never mind that she later got slugged out by Amida, but give the lady some credit here.)
