I have my own... reservations... about MHA, but what Black Clover does so wrong that MHA is almost always free of is that Black Clover does certain things because they've always been done rather than giving stuff a solid basis for existing in its own world. Essentially, it copies the skin of other stuff without understanding the skeleton.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Funny thing in that Hunter x Hunter is a little old school due to coming out in 1998 which is shown via being a slow-burn but with good pacing.
Black Clover came out in 2015 & its pacing is too fast in the manga & too slow in the anime. And that's ignoring blatantly cribbing on every convention all at once.
Also @X 2 X how was Black Panther?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."@ LSBK & Sigilbreaker: Yeah, I've heard that MHA falls into its own rut at times too. Again, can't pass judgment on it since I've never watched it, but I'm hard pressed to believe it's not better about its use of shonen conventions than Black Clover is. (Which is a bit of a backhanded compliment, considering that just about any half-decently written shonen series could top BC.)
@ slim: Very good. Probably going to be overhyped because of its cultural significance (not that'd I blame anyone for doing so), but for me, it very easily places in the Top 5 of the MCU. The story was poignant, it had a great and well-developed supporting cast, and the movie's villain is definitely one of the better and more compelling ones in the entire franchise.

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarDB falls into ruts really easily though. I've been rereading early stuff and laughing at how for like, four arcs in a row Goku beats his enemies by smashing into them head first at high speed.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I wouldn't say they're inevitable, just nearly inevitable.
What's odd is that Neji has a sort of perfectly contained character arc in the first part of Naruto so you could have very well killed him off and had that be that, but if Kishimoto wanted to keep him around then he should have given him something to do.
Actually, one of the already introduced people should have taken Sai's place and had secret orders that conflicted with their friendship with Naruto and Sakura, that would have been much better than introducing that blank slate.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I don't like the face Naruto was making at first. x_x XD
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!@ slim: No kidding. I'm already bracing myself for when we get around to that moment in the Fourth Shinobi World War.

This all makes it sad how Demoted to Extra the original Leaf 11 became.
A lot of good characters wasted just so the Uchihaha's could hijack the entire story.

In a fucking decade though. Do you know how far off from that we are?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
x3 I mean, that's the least of that arc's problems honestly.
I wouldn't say that. That doesn't really happen till the last arc really. Naruto's main problem is introducing too many new characters instead of developing its core roster, a problem I think... every shonen has? Nearly every shonen, the only one I can think that dodges it is YYH.
