"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarBlack Clover is kinda like the anti-My Hero Academia. Whereas the latter breathes new life into tried and true tropes we're used to seeing in Shonen, the former just plays them painfully straight with no sense of irony or innovation.
Its kind of interesting that despite that, they're two of Shonen Jump's most popular series` after One Piece.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Just dawned on me now, but this kid is Rock Lee with the backstory, personality, and motivation of Naruto. Egad.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarNot terrible, but I can certainly see why it's derided as generic and formulaic.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarI dunno. I think that the strongest reaction I had in the whole episode was getting angry at the bad guy for hurting Asta so much. Literally kicking him when he's down.
It kind of reminds me of Blue Exorcist. Are we ever getting its Kyoto Arc?
The visuals are nice. That bad guy looks like someone out of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is weirdly recursive for an anime.

Do not obey in advance.![]()
It be interesting if we ever get that show.
Also yes there are dark implications to Asta's grimoire but slight spoilers its been over a hundred chapters & its not really been touched upon much except for one moment.
Hey at least its bearable. We actually got a competent voice director here.

Is this our Sasuke?
Yep, I'm still here.
