@Beary You say that like Jo Jo's going to have to make an extra effort to be crazy as fuck.

Yeah, that might be the reason. I hate Buu as a character too, of course, but yeah, the silly comedy feels so wrong with the situation. And I just hate Buu. I really hate Buu.
Improving as an author, one video at a time. The Buu saga has a lot of Mood Whiplash issues that weren't present in the arcs prior. Toriyama follows up Buu literally exterminating the majority of the human race to having him and Gotenks engage in Looney Toons level antics because he wanted to amuse himself.
@ Yakuzu: I'm not surprised since Tipton was already voicing Kid Trunks in Super (and I don't recall there being a large gap between the recording sessions for the movies, both Xenoverse games, Kai: The Final Chapters, and Super), but I have noticed that a fair number of Bailey's roles have been recast in recent years for whatever reason: Rise, Lucina, even Chun-Li in Infinite.
@ slim: Yeah, well, that's just their opinion, man.
In all sincerity, I respect their difference in opinion; I just highly disagree with it.

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarThis episode reminds me of the movie by Speilberg, Duel.
@Black Y It's the arc that convinced me he's better when he has editors to rein him in.
Improving as an author, one video at a time. There were more than a few legitimately funny moments, don't get me wrong, but like Lionheart said, the frequent use of Mood Whiplash didn't do the arc any favors when it came to the seriousness of Buu's threat to the entire galaxy.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarThat's one reason I get more pissed off with Old Kai than I do Goku in that scenario, even if I'm not exactly fond of doing that. Old Kai knows how bad shit is but doesn't give a damn, to the point where there's little option but to play that irritating card. Then the power up is him doing a silly dance. Just... Come on! Really?!
I prefer it like Battle of Gods, where there's comedy in the build up, but when the villain becomes a legit threat, they get serious and they stay serious.
I feel DBZ comedy works when the stakes are lower or in the more slice of life situations. Ginyu Force aside.

Goddamnit, Araki.

I wonder why I hate this arc's silliness so much. I mean, I like silly things and I'm fine with some of the comedy in Dragonball. But this arc just grates me.
