The gruesomeness of this episode aside, JJBA's ability to pull off so many Genre Shifts yet remain well-written, compelling, and as outlandish as ever is a testament to Araki's writing. (And his possible insanity.)

@ Great: Even if he didn't just see the one person who treated him as more than a weapon die at the One-Eyed Owl's hands (er...), I don't think that boy knows how to quit.
I think most of here will agree that √A has problems in the storytelling and pacing departments, but I do feel that the strained relationship between Kaneki and Amon was still handled relatively well (even if it's largely a carryover from the previous season). I'm definitely getting more out of their fight than anything else in this episode.
