And don't forget how Melfina always had a digitally-added bikini so she wouldn't be nude on TV.
Aaaaand this is at the top of the page. Man, is this going to be weird without context.
Welp, I should call it a night here as well. Later, y'all.

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarAw, gotta love having daytime TV edits to make seinen-shows suitable for a kid-friendly by. Thanks to the death edit, I always thought Hilda just suffered a Disney Death and would turn up again towards the end of the series until later episodes made it clear she was gone for good.
TBH, I kind of liked the digital bikini edit a bit more and I'm not sure why. I guess a little modesty is fine here and there.
Yep. It was never depicted seriously, though, and was mostly done as gratuitous fanservice. I think it's an instance of Values Dissonance, due to it being the 1960s, and Monkey Punch being a young man writing for an audience of other young men.
Not to toot my own horn, but I wrote quite a bit in a post for my Lupin manga blog.
I'm very glad they toned that aspect of it down for the anime.
Yeah, the rapist angle was something I'm NOT a fan of with Lupin and I'm glad that's long been dropped. Lupin works as a more playful character. That's one reason I enjoyed Part 4 so much: it fuses the best parts of all incarnations of Lupin.
Next episode of Lupin the 3rd, shit gets trippy! This one borrows influence from A Woman Named Fujiko Mine. That and we'll get Lupin vs. Nix 3! And Lupin will have no choice this time but to finish this fight.
I love this episode, especially how it ends.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.@ Rynnec: Yeah, I agree on the digital bikini. She operates in a tank of water, after all, so while I guess the lack of clothing is for Fanservice interface purposes, it makes a whole lot more sense that she's in a what's essentially a swimsuit.
Ugh, it still stinks that Frost is a faker. The concept of a heroic Frieza had such great potential.

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarBeary, think of it more as naturally grown clothes/armor. That's Xenoverse's explanation for it, anyway.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarAwww yeah, IBO S2 promo!

It's always the coolest characters that bite it first.
Fun fact: the original US airing of this episode cut out Hilda's suicide bombing, making it look like she and the pirate girl just drifted into the sun.
