The lack of guns is deliberate on Kishimoto's part, but it is weird when you have high-end computers in a world full of ninjas.
I'm torn as to how effective firearms would be for an actual ninja, though civilians like the thugs Gato hired back in the first part would probably benefit from them.
If it wasn't for the fact that Naruto already met Yukimura in the hot springs, I would've wagered that he would mistake him for a girl like he did with Haku.
