@ Tsukkomi: This is reminding me of the whole "No, just a bear" exchange.
@ Zero: We all saw it.
But try not to read into it too much.

You Can't Give It Up!! [[Phash Slash 1001@gmail.com]] http://corecrush112.tumblr.comI know this might be a stupid question and maybe it was properly explained but I'm gonna ask nonetheless.
...why the fuck are they saying they're leveling up? I mean...I get what it means, that's obvious. But why are we using video game terminology?! Is this secretly a video game? Are they fan of video games? Is this a parody of video games?
...like...why?
Yeah, that's really bothering me too. I mean, it'd work if this were clearly D&D inspired, like Bastard, but here it just comes off as random.

@ Great: I'm getting Beet the Vandel Buster vibes from all of this lingo being used straight in the real world (as opposed to SAO, where it was silly but justified).

#26288: I suppose in a way it makes sense and doesn't at the same time to me. I mean in my story, while it's not part of the dialogue/narration proper, I use 'Level' instead of Chapter for each chapter, and after a certain point, the characters do make liberal use of the word 'pwn', though even that would be less weird, now that I think on it. What gamer wouldn't use the word 'pwn' from time to time if they felt so inclined?
