It's important, I think, that the "I'll judge you myself!" speech establishes that Jotaro does have a clear moral compass. He's rude and antisocial but not amoral.
Also: Walk like an Egyptian...
I'd like to be the first man on the moon. All joking aside, I just dislike his rudeness. Once that's calm and I'm actually experiencing it instead of just being told stuff, I'll be cool with him.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Jotaro also has a much stronger supporting cast than any of the previous Jojos. I doubt I'd like him if the other Crusaders weren't around to balance out the jerkass-to-not-jerkass ratio on the screen.
I'd like to be the first man on the moon.@Lennik Same. Plus I feel the targets and reactions factor in as well. Joseph outwardly cared for his family and showed it. Jotaro we know does, but started out calling his mom a bitch and shit. Also, Joseph was goofy and it would negatively impact him sometimes when doing it to sympathetic people. Women swoon over Jotaro. His mom acts as if his prickish aspects aren't there.

Improving as an author, one video at a time.Still, in a public restroom? Save that for when you're at home, guy.
That's right, boys. Mondo cool.

Jotaro's a very introverted person, and this situation has him on edge. He softens as things go along.
I have a message from another time...
