Sad reminder that Trunks will never be as cool as his future counterpart.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarThe attendant to the God of Destruction says you should let go of your Saiyan pride and fight together, but you know what, screw that noise!
Frieza's screams of torture. Ah, music to my ears.
A just and fitting fate for one such as him.
I guess the next episode is where we start getting into new territory, then?
I'd like to be the first man on the moon.I'll say it again:
Damn does Gohan look fucking terrible.
He's a looks like Goddamn nerd & is a twig-boy on top of it.
Thankfully yes were starting new shit.
I pity Frieza though. A deserving fate though a pretty awful one indeed.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."@ slim: Yeah, yeah, so I've heard.
You'll be glad to know he gets back into fighting shape later on. (Even though that would have always been the case after this arc unless Super somehow ends up overwriting the Grand Finale of Z.)
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarI feel like a weirdo. Am I the only person who likes nerd-Gohan? Like, the idea that he got to actually grow up like a regular human and pursue his own path, instead of becoming a Generation Xerox of Goku?
I'd like to be the first man on the moon.I don't think it's so much as Gohan becoming a nerd as much as it is him becoming weaker and not the Genius Bruiser that would've been expected.
@ Maestro: I didn't mind it either. He was never a career martial artist like his dad and the entire point of the Cell Games was pushing Gohan past his Rage Breaking Point so he could utilize his full potential. Sure, when the chips are down, Gohan will give it his all, but he doesn't have the same kind of warrior spirit as his dad. And that's ok. Personally, Gohan wouldn't be half as interesting if he was a carbon copy of Goku, though I do agree he shouldn't be suffering from Aesop Amnesia when it comes to his training.
Well, a "weakling" in relation to everyone not named Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. He was still the strongest person there outside of those three (and Whis and Beerus, but they were a mostly neutral party).

Which is, unfortunately, a recurring problem with the series as a whole.

"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarAs I've said before, I think the Can't Catch Up problem would have been less pervasive if Toriyama hadn't relied so heavily on Serial Escalation. There was no need to have every new villain be more powerful than Frieza and the Super Saiyans. Hell, there was no need to make Frieza as brokenly powerful as he was. Give the new villains some kind of special powers. Give the Super Saiyans some handicaps or drawbacks to the transformation so they aren't relying on it constantly. There were a million ways to prevent everyone else becoming so useless.

That's right, boys. Mondo cool. That said, I do like how Cell was actually cerebral in his dealings with the Z Fighters, as well as a skilled combatant who didn't simply rely on brute force the same way Frieza did.

I agree with every word of that.

I'd like to be the first man on the moon. That started before Frieza. Really, Goku always had one major fight with someone, and then by the next time they meet he far outclassed them. Piccolo and Vegeta are the only ones for that to not immediately hold true, and Piccolo, too, is now firmly in that corner.
Goku leaving everyone in the dust by no means started with the "Z" portion of the series.

Yup!
It's so sweet how Gohan goes to check on his ladies.
Do not obey in advance.
