Ah, yes, the iconic moment of Vegeta acting da mickey (and committing mass-murder).
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarIs it really a Moral Event Horizon when he ends up joining up with the good guys again for realz afterwards? :P
Apparently not.
Never mind his Heroic Sacrifice later on (which actually sends him to Hell IIRC), it's not like Vegeta hasn't wiped out entire cities and planets before.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarVegeta fought Goku. Goku survived, Vegeta retreated.
To Vegeta, that's loss enough.
He doesn't care that interference happened; he should've been able to crush all of them, is what he's probably thinking.
Right now, Goku is closer to killing Beerus than he will ever come again.

I have a message from another time...@ Rojixus: Maybe not in terms of pure fighting prowess in their only prior fight, but Goku's Spirit Bomb was what did in Vegeta, plus Vegeta resorted to the Great Ape transformation beforehand because a lowlife managed to overpower him, the prince of all Saiyans, with the Kaio-ken. And to add insult to injury, Goku had the gall to let Krillin spare Vegeta's life. Even in defeat, Goku still "won," if that makes sense. It's an ego and Saiyan pride thing.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarMaybe. The dragonballs can reverse the damage Vegeta can do, unless said damage includes unsealing Buu. If we can trade temporary deaths for keeping Buu from escaping into the wider universe, it might be worth it.
Much later in this arc, Piccolo will try to make the same trade.

As far as Supreme Kai was concerned, yes. He was convinced that any sacrifice would be better than letting Buu reawaken. And he was pretty much right. If Elder Moori hadn't upgraded the Namekian dragonballs (and they had no idea that he did) the casualties would have been catastrophic.

I know nostalgia's not all it's cracked up to be, but I think we can all agree that a lot of lines had better delivery/felt more powerful in the original dub.
"And this time, you're going to dieeeeeeeeeeh!"
Vegeta, he's already dead. Literally.
