Oda certainly knows how to tug at his readers' heartstrings, though, in that case, it wasn't in a good way.
I'm going to call it a night here. And by "call it a night," I mean spend the next hour or so lollygagging instead of going to sleep.

The fact that the other Straw Hats are surprised by how quickly Luffy brought Brook into the fold makes me think that they're forgotten their own history with the crew.
