And that was one of the best episodes so point for me.
Because shonen anime rarely operates on a Monster of the Week system.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Yeah, Krillin's a martial artist. He likes fighting(not quite as much as Saiyans do but he still does), if a bunch of aliens showed up on Earth and were about even with each of the humans and right before they have an insanely epic team death match Goku one-shots all the aliens with one Ki blast, do you have any idea what a colossal DICK MOVE that would be?!

Me too, but it won't ever happen.
They don't do that. They won't do it.
I'm not sure if it's that the writers think people only want to see Goku and Vegeta (we know Toriyama felt Goku was a better hero), or if the fans really do only care about Goku and Vegeta, but that's not gonna happen.

One Strip! One Strip! It wouldn't be a dick move, it'd be Goku doing the sensible thing.
Also, such a fight would have zero tension because, even if did lose, there are seven other people far stronger than he is who'll just swoop in and kill the villain. Then they'll just use Namek's Dragon Balls to revive him.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! He's only pulled a kill stealing stunt a grand total of once and it was pretty damned justified so I agree.

One Strip! One Strip! There are still zero stakes if Goku's just standing offscreen ready to vaporize the villain if Krillin can't hack it. The only thing that will be lost if he fails is a bit of pride.

Pretty much.
And he wouldn't be busy fighting someone else, because he'd probably take those guys out right away.
People seemed to dislike when everyone fought against Frieza's army in Resurrection-F as well, so having an excuse for Goku to not be there doesn't work.
Though the problem with that is that they came up with excuses to keep the stronger members out of the fighting (and poor excuses at that).

One Strip! One Strip!Neither do I, but it doesn't change the fact that they are excuses.
And most don't seem to want that.
One Strip! One Strip!Even in Revenge of F Frieza pointed out how all of them being their was pointless because Gohan alone could have easily taken his entire army out and done it faster.

Nostalgia. The same reason they act like Tien's little bout against Cell makes him the awesomest thing to ever awesome.

SO GOHAN YOU SPENT THE LAST FOREVER GETTING HYPED FOR THIS POWERUP BY THE GODS OF THE UNIVERSE, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO NOW?
Well I think I'm gonna get absorbed and let my dad and his bestest buddy genocidal Napoleon be the heroes.
Spectacular writing indeed.

Every time someone posts something about Power Levels with numbers and everything, I think of this
.

I think wanting your favorite character to actually contribute something meaningful rather than just be treated like cannon fodder doesn't really constitute nostalgia.
Like really, most of the time it feels like its wrong to want non-Goku & Vegeta characters to do something for a change instead of be moving scenery.
But moving from that tangent...anyone else wondering why Champa is looking for Namek's dragon balls?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.People take that line out of context. He's talking about how Goku and Piccolo went up several orders of magnitude when the plot demanded they be that strong, even though they remained relatively at the same level for years on end.
Well he's only talking about Piccolo in that instance but the overall idea applies to Goku more than anyone else.
