Vegeta acknowledged him as 'the brat' when he challenged them. I'm not saying that Vegeta would care about him as a physical threat, I'm saying that seeing him as a family man would be like 'Oh yeah, the Android brat. What the hell is HE doing here? He works here?! And has a family?! The fuck?!' There's more to Vegeta's personality than just Power Levels and people don't stop existing for him once he's surpassed them.
If you were to ask Vegeta "hey, do you remember 17?", Vegeta's answer would be "... Who?", because yes, Vegeta is that simple a person to understand, and I can't understand how you can fail this hard at understanding his thought processes.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariWhy would Vegeta remember #17?
They've only met one time, very briefly. It's been years since that one time...that one time where they only got one brief look at eachother, Vegeta spent a majority of that time fighting #18 and got knocked out.
To Vegeta #17 might as well not exist because he never saw him again after that.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I think he would remember 17, I just think he wouldn't really care enough to be curious. "Oh, hey, that dude who was with the chick that beat me up. And the loser took a loser job. Ha, loser." And then he would never think of him again once he left.
I mean, he still remembered Krillin when they met on Namek and he didn't really accomplish anything.

Also, popularity poll
. Biggest surprise for me is Korin being on there at all. Also this makes 18 getting snubbed for Roshi make even less sense.
Krillin actually caused him pain. Krillin hit him with a Genkidama. Krillin cut his back through his armor and nearly killed him. Krillin was instrumental to his team's survival. Plus, it hadn't been very long since the last time he'd seen Krillin, which was in what passes for a traumatically humilliating experience for Vegeta.
I think that if he hadn't met Krillin on Namek, though, he would have forgotten about him soon after and hell, I don't think he actually knows Krillin's name, nor registers his existence beyond being 'an annoyance' or 'that bald guy with Kakarot', or even his appearance, off the top of his head.

I wonder if that's Present Trunks or Future Trunks. I'm mildly surprised to see Lazuli so high on that list but it's rather nice.
That was actually Yajirobe. I mean, I know they have the same voice in Japan and all, but c'mon man!
.....Though now I can picture Vegeta replacing Yajirobe cutting his back with Krillin because acknowledge the latter is the lesser of two evils in his mind.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()

But it was a heartwarming moment when he called Krillin by name in the newest movie, it sounds just as awkward as it always did.

Also, you guys are REALLY underestimating how petty and stubborn about his opinions Vegeta is: it took him DECADES to accept that Goku wasn't a low-class Saiyan, despite when they first met Goku's Power Level was high enough to be top mid-class to elite. He had #17 pegged from the moment they met as a bratty teenager and never interacted enough with him to ever think otherwise. He probably almost never thought about him after that but if Bulma roped the two families into having dinner, Vegeta would be constantly dumbstruck that the Park Ranger and family man sitting before him is the same bratty douche-nozzle teenager from years ago.

It was 2004. Goku had defeated Majin Buu almost 10 years ago. And GT had given Goku everything.
I stand by it's not just the characters themselves that make them become popular, it's what they do. Goku and Vegeta get a lot of screentime at the end of the Buu Saga, GT, and all the recent materials. They get all the cool moments. After Gohan got absorbed by Buu, he pretty much has had no cool moments.
And guys...17 doesn't have to be an important character. I don't think he'd really care about them, besides 18. And none of them ever bring him up. I mean, 17 never even met Goku!
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!It would really be getting into Whatever Happened to the Mouse?? territory. But if they have nothing else to do, it's better than pointless filler.

Didn't Krillin actually manage to hit him before Goku told him to stop?
Shit, I might be misremembering. I do know that Yajirobe did manage to annoy Vegeta to the point I'm sure Vegeta would remember 'the fat guy', but...
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariAside from with the Genki Dama (sorta), Krillin never hit Vegeta.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Vegeta doesn't dislike most people, he's callously apathetic to most people. Important distinction. That point about calling 17 a brat is just him being casually condescending, because that's what he does to everyone.
I honestly don't think he cares enough about 17 one way or another to be surprised by anything regarding him. Vegeta cares about his family and his rivalry with Goku, and everything else can go to Hell as far as he's concerned.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Because it is literally no different for him than it would be to meet some random Earthling he's never even heard about.
I don't know how this can be so difficult to understand: Vegeta does not care. 17 is far below his notice, and has been ever since he went into the Hyperbolic Training Charger. He's merely a footnote at best, and most likely, Vegeta doesn't even know he exists.
