Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! Not enough to train, he isn't.
Gohan's old enough now to choose his path in life, and he chose to not be a fighter like his dad. I support that decision, especially if it means that Pan will grow up with a father.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Vegeta is a far better man, father, and husband than Goku will ever be, Goku is trash and doesn't deserve to be called a "hero".

Actually, I doubt anyone will disagree with you on those second two points and we've gone over countless times how Goku really is bad hero.
Sure, it does. Is Krillin a bad father because he can't take Majin Buu at arm-wrestling? Does every father on the planet Earth need to be able to kick Beerus's ass before they can be considered a good dad? There are billions of people on the planet who couldn't handle Nappa let alone Frieza, and they manage just fine.
Gohan's already more powerful than anything that exists in the universe outside of celestial entities beyond the fabric of mortal space and time; you'd think that would be enough to end the complaints that one day he's going to turn around and his whole family will be dead because he didn't train hard enough.
Not to mention, the last time a cosmic threat endangered the planet, it happened because Gohan was so powerful. If Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta were as strong as Krillin, Babidi could never have revived Majin Buu. Because they were so powerful, he could get the energy to revive Buu, and then Gohan's contribution as the most powerful being in the universe was to increase Buu's power and make the battle against him hopeless.
The day was ultimately saved and Majin Buu defeated despite Gohan's contribution, not because of it.
The next time a celestial threat endangers the world, it will be because he's drawn there seeking a challenge from a half-remembered legend relating to Goku, and it will be dealt with by Goku, and Gohan will contribute nothing of consequence beyond being part of the God ritual.
Gohan's battle power does not matter, either to the cause of raising his daughter or to protecting the Earth. To the former, he doesn't need to be a glorious warrior of destruction, he just needs to be a good dad. To the latter, he doesn't matter anyway. He shone brightly one time when he was 11 years old, and since then, attempting to matter has never helped and only made things worse.

Goku is just oblivious due to being the embodiment of a Manchild
But doesn't that kinda destroy the whole "relying on Goku" theme of the series...

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. He's right, it's not true. Toriyama made the call to bring Goku back into the spotlight because he felt Goku was better suited to be the protagonist than Gohan. He made the effort, it didn't work out so well, so he went back to Goku.
It should also be noted that Gohan won't always need to matter anyway. It's a shonen thing taken for granted that the Earth will always be imperiled by a new villain at a higher point on the sorting algorithm, but it shouldn't be. I mean, at this point, Goku's fighting the most powerful gods of his universe. The Earth will cease to be imperiled as soon as the author stops thinking of bigger villains to imperil it.
Once Dragon Ball Super finishes retelling the movies, Goku and Vegeta are leaving the universe entirely, and the adventure's going with them, not staying here on Earth. From a Watsonian perspective, there's no reason to assume that there will always be a new evil that is stronger than the last because that's silly. From a Doylist perspective, every story ends.

She also didn't have much of a personality to speak of back then, either. She only appeared once before the 23rd Budoukai where the only thing really noteworthy about her was her helmet beam.
