Let's take a look at what the Non Serial Move pages has to say:

  • The Dead Zone: It can't fit because in this movie Krillin already knew who Gohan was while in the first DBZ episode nobody except for Chi-Chi and Goku knew.
  • The Worlds Strongest: Piccolo wasn't around when Goku utilized Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb.
  • The Tree of Might: Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien and Chaotsu were still dead around the time Goku learned to upgrade his Kaioken to level 10.
  • Lord Slug: By the time Goku arrives back to Earth, he is already capable of performing the Super Saiyan transformation. There was no need for him to use the False Super Saiyan form. They also have Gohan portrayed as he was on Namek, Gohan was older when Goku returned to Earth.
  • Cooler's Revenge: Same thing, Goku could transform into a Super Saiyan easily by the time he returned to Earth but they make it look as if he had a difficult time with the transformation.
  • The Return of Cooler: Dende is the new guardian of Earth. At this time, Goku became a Full Power Super Saiyan along with Gohan. Gohan is older than what he was when everyone fought with the Androids. On top of that Vegeta could undergo the Super Saiyan Grade 2nd transformation. Since Dende is the new guardian for Earth, Piccolo should have already fused with Kami making him more powerful. Meta Cooler is a bit surprised with Goku's Instant Tansmission technique, however Goku should have been able to use Instant Transmission when he first fought Coolernote
  • Super Android 13: No one had any free time on their hands considering that they went straight to Kami's lookout after Goku recovered from the heart virus to Train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
  • Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan: During the 10 days before the Cell Games. Not only was that stated in the Japanese version, that's the only logical time it could happen. As for Cell not sensing it, Broly was in a different galaxy.
  • Bojack Unbound: Takes place in the Time Skip between the Cell Saga and the Buu Saga so it's possible.
  • Broly – Second Coming: They had a lot of time on their hands to fit it in. However, Goku did not return to Earth until the Tournament.
  • Bio-Broly: Took place during the tournament but the Z-Warriors went on to fight Babadi and his crew, plus Goku was still around when the tournament was going on. At the end, show him back in Other World.
  • Fusion Reborn: Because this movie picked up right after the Other World Tournament, Goku did not have the ability to turn SSJ 2 and SSJ 3. This also cancels out the fusions, Vegeta's death and Gohan's Mystic Level. Also Goku mentioned Buu to Janemba but Goku never heard of Buu until after the World Martial Arts Tournament.
  • Wrath of the Dragon: Takes place after the Buu saga so it's possible.

Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan: During the 10 days before the Cell Games. Not only was that stated in the Japanese version, that's the only logical time it could happen. As for Cell not sensing it, Broly was in a different galaxy.

Meanwhile, Cell stood very confused in the middle of the Cell Games arena, sensing all the strongest battle powers leaving the Earth for no reason. Assuming they were fleeing in terror, he gave a disappointed sigh, blew up the planet, and flew out into space to follow them.

Next time, maybe don't leave your villain completely unattended while you go pursue side quests.

I mean, Cell knows Goku can teleport.

And he knows the heroes wouldn't actually abandon the Earth.

He said ten days, and he learned counting from Doctor Gero instead of Frieza, so.

...I don't know, he does have those Frieza genes.

  • CELL: In ten days, I will hold my tournament.
  • Ten days later
  • GOKU: Hey Cell, um...quick question. We were all very busy training for the tournament and lost track of time. Just so we're on the same page, how much time has passed?
  • CELL: I approximate four hours.
  • GOKU: Perfect, that's what I thought. *teleport* We're cool, guys. We still got loads of time to train.

Cell was too busy having a dream where he absorbed Krillin to notice everyone leaving the planet.

...Math isn't genetic.

I mean, if it was then the Goku genes would mess everything up.

Neither are skills, but Cell's ability to fire the Kamehameha is still attributed to his Goku genes.

Cell is the patron god of LEGO Genetics, having taken the trope Beyond the Impossible and acquired things that aren't even biological aspects at all.

Wasn't there a thing where Gero's computer showed Cell all of the battle data from a bunch of fights?

Couldn't he have learned the techniques from that?

Frieza's perception of time is written into his genes. It's a mutation.

So, what if Frieza went into the Time Chamber?

...How long did Frieza actually train for? Was it 4 months or?

...How were they able to torture him in that cocoon?

Frieza was tortured by reliving his defeat at the hands of the Super Saiyans Goku and Trunks, IIRC.

For a creature of pride, reliving your failure over and over is a worse torment than anything so pedestrian as physical pain. Toriyama's Hell is much more clever than the traditional Fire and Brimstone Hell.

They were present, yes, but Frieza himself was cocooned to a tree while visions of his defeat played in his head.

And now you can dangle Frieza's eternal torment from your keychain.

Is Zenkai a Voodoo Shark? It seems like Toriyama partly put it in to explain why Goku was always stronger when he got defeated...except that was never really a Plot Hole. There were always legitimate reasons. When he got defeated by Tao and Piccolo, he ended up going to Karin and getting some new powerup. It didn't need a genetic explanation.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!

Was Zenkai actually ever mentioned until Namek? Because it just seemed as and hand wave for all the gainz during it.

[up][up]Yes.

What Goku's Saiyan genes should (and do) account for is that he grows at such a phenomenal rate, surpassing the greatest martial artists on the planet before he finished puberty, abruptly mastering complex techniques just by watching other people do them, and far outgrowing anything his planet could possibly challenge him with by adulthood.

That he always bounced back stronger didn't need a genetic explanation because he always had a plot-based reason to bounce back stronger.

[up] The protagonists explicitly make the connection when it's explained to them. I want to say it's Vegeta explaining it on Namek and Krillin making the connection of, "Oh yeah, that's why Goku always came back stronger every time he lost," but I can't recall for certain.

It's a Hand Wave for Vegeta and Goku's ridiculous growth on Namek, but - just like how Dr. Gero is a new character masquerading as a returning nemesis - it's a new mechanic pretending to be a longstanding aspect of the franchise.

The movies only make sense in any continuity if you assume that some of them take place in an alternate universe. The Cooler movies are the easiest. Goku just returns to Earth much sooner/lets Shenron bring him back.

Bojack can't be canon, because as I've told Zel, if Bojack is canon, fuck you Gohan, you irresponsible shit.
