Knowing when to ask for help is a sign of maturity, not weakness.
My dad's a mechanic. I'm a database administrator. There's nobody better qualified to fix my family's PC troubles than me, but I can't code a working carburetor.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Oh yes, I'm sure he'd love nothing more than to be unable to save his friends when the inevitable next threat comes along and starts killing people. I'm sure that's exactly what he wants.
I have a message from another time...![]()
I wouldn't consider that a sign of maturity if it was possible for you to become a mechanic or learn all his skills but didn't and just choice to wait until the worst possible times for him to help you.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Gohan not wanting to be like Goku and not always training, but that's not what we're talking about.
Edit: Single word changed for clarification.

(x3) Funny, I'm going to school for that as well.
That sounds like an amusing story. I mean, I've smashed my chin into a wall while playing tug of war with a sibling, I've managed to cut my finger on an envelope (and I used to think only morons managed to cut themselves with paper), and I have cut myself while cutting vegetables and eating seafood, but, cutting one's face in that manner is a new one.
Did the knife somehow rebound off the counter?
At least up until the Cell or Buu sagas, Gohan was, what, 6-12 years old? He didn't have any reason to assume the Earth would be attacked repeatedly. Even as a teenager attending high school, they went a good 4-6 years beforehand without any major alien attacks or genocides, that we know of.
And coincidentally, nothing happened until the exact day Goku came back.

You're so hilariously off base it's actually kind of sad.
What, so because his dad's a fighter, Gohan has to become a fighter?
I'm the first to call him dumb for not training at all, considering that he would actually need breaks to clear his mind from all the studying and exercise happens to be great for that, plus there's the fact that he let himself become weaker than Vegeta who is still evil at this point, and you never know when he might snap, become a villain again, murder a bunch of people and cause the end of the world as we know it.
However... you're saying that Gohan should be a fighter because Goku's a fighter and fuck his personal preferences? That's really bad, dood.
Realizing that something is just not your thing is a sign of maturity. Keeping at it even though you repeatedly fail and have no interest in it isn't determination, it's called being a stubborn idiot.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari
Um, that's not what I said, at all. What I said is that choosing to let his strength falter in times of peace and then just trying to get it back up at the worst time or just letting Goku do it is not mature. He doesn't have to be training like Goku for that and I understand why he doesn't want to.
Maybe try reading what people actually post next time.

"If it was possible for you to become a mechanic", implying that because he has power, he should train it. Implying that because his father is a fighter, he should become a fighter as well.
Furthermore, the second part is completely invented why you. When did Gohan ever wait for the worst possible times to call for someone to help?
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari
That might have been a bad analogy. But the point stands that Gohan has no reason to believe that there will never be another threat and seeing as he hates being useless and is usually one of the few possibly able to do things about it he might want to keep on top of things. Just ignoring it and assuming it'll never happen again or dad might just take care of it is irresponsible. The second part is predicated on the first part. Not doing anything until the situation is horrible is waiting until the worst possible time.
I still don't understand this false dichotomy some of you created that Gohan either has to devote his life to fighting and nothing else or he can do other things and never train again.

(x6) Buu was almost entirely Goku's fault.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I skipped a lot of the conversation, as it got bogged down in stuff but....
I should have known I'd become such a monster someday.
Anyway......um.....I got nothing. Carry on.
One Strip! One Strip!re: Female Super Saiyan. There's already the female player character that can do it.
I'm disturbed by the fact that turning super saiyan and having a vagina is the only thing that matters to some people, as opposed to a character having an actual character, but okay.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."...Does Dragon Ball Heroes even have an actual plot?
Or characters?
Or personality?
Because it seems like "AU power level mix and match bullshit: the card-based arcade game" to me.
I just feel there's a little bit of unfairness in terms of what it decides to pull out of its ass.
Like, yes, I want more female characters with a well done character arc, and I want more female characters to fulfill more diverse roles.
One of those roles can be punching things.
In the game whose sole purpose at this point seems to be showing us alternative and weird characters and situations and powerups that weren't in the actual series? And none of those powerups have been given to a female character?
I mean. Hell, if they did Hell Fighter 18 and Super Android 18? That would at least be something.

Hah, Gero even showed some favoritism/sexism when he decided to build Hell 17 and not 18.
If you discovered some arcane method to fuse an android with another android you built 20-30 years ago and make them 50-60 times stronger, why not build a second android to fuse with the other android you built all those years ago?
Goku vs two Super Androids, come on, tell me that wouldn't be great. A nod to how outmatched Trunks was in his timeline.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!During the Dark Demon Realm Saga Mira attains his own Super Saiyan form, Super Mira, which would multiply his power many times over: either 50x base or 200x base.

The last time Gohan was powerful enough to be relevant, not only did he not succeed in accomplishing anything, he actually made the situation worse.
The argument is that he should know by now to keep up his training to protect the world and, well, no he shouldn't. If he takes anything away from Buu, it should be to bow out and leave it to the characters who actually enjoy doing this.
