So I have finally finished Dragon Ball and have moved on to Kai again.
Dragon Ball is fantastic and Z feels like a completely different show.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Z isn't THAT different at the beginning. The Saiyan Saga still keeps a lot of Dragon Ball-esque elements (Goku's experiences in the Otherworld in particular). It's not until they get to Namek where the DBZ formula really starts.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!![]()

The two anime series are noticeably different from the start, because they were different productions.
Hugely different approaches to stalling (Dragon Ball just included more filler that wasn't related to anything, Z opted to more often drag things on like crazy).

Going off of Kai, Z is very different just going off of the tone of how the story is told. The humor aspects of Dragon Ball are almost completely gone and never show up during the fights (at least until you get to the Buu Saga where most of it returns). The fights themselves also play out completely differently.
The closest Dragon Ball ever got to Z in term of tone was the Piccolo Daimaou Saga.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Er, so there's a new Dragon Ball series airing. Should we get a new thread for that?
It's Actually Pretty Funny, in the really low-brow, idiotic Toriyama trademark way.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I feel DBS is nostalgic and feels-y to me, especially with a nice theme of family.
Also, Skot's finally playable! (in DBH)

I have a feeling that Gohan is going to get back into the action for real during Super. I mean, he was fighting during the opening. They wouldn't do that if he's just going to be Worfed and nothing else. Right?
Of course, I'm also thinking this opening is only corresponding to the Bo G arc, and they'll change it when we get to Ro F and then the new segments.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Yet, they couldn't for Resurrection Of F, the fuck?

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.

So, what did you guys think of the first episode of Super, if any of you have seen it yet?
I really liked it! A light-hearted start to the series is nice.
