Movie villains do tend to lack character, yes.
Regarding the original Funi dub and the Kai dub, I like Kai's improved voice acting and writing (Though Cell's death scene felt sorta weak), and touched-up artwork. Not too crazy about the music, though. The original Kai score was neat, but I despise the old score they had to reinsert after firing Yamamoto. Faulconer was a nice part of the Funi dub, though, not sure if I prefer Faulconer or Yamamoto.
As far as voices go, Goku's Japanese voice is just plain silly.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I really love the Faulconer score. YMMV on all the voice-acting quality but I don't know why anyone would hate the dub music so much.
That being said, I am grateful they kept the original score for their dub of Dragon Ball. DB is just not DB without Makafushigi Adventure.
And since Cell was mentioned, the Android/Cell saga onward had pretty much nothing but good voices IMO. Chuck Huber as 17, Meredith Mc Coy as 18, Eric Vale as Future Trunks and plenty of others. I guess Android 20 kinda sucked but who the fuck care about Android 20.
My favorite dub voices would be...
1. Nadolny's Kid Goku 2. Sabat's King Piccolo 3. Mc Coy's 18 (I hear she was replaced in Kai. I am disappoint) 4. Kent William's Tao 5. Kyle Hebert's Gohan

Truthfully, I've heard so many bad dubs, and dumb voices in both Japanese and English that if I took the time to actually hate them, I'd just be sitting around raging, so I say fuck it.
Indifference for the win.
One Strip! One Strip! And English Dub Freeza with the raspy smoker old lady voice is the best. It fits his androgynous design and ambiguous homosexuality perfectly. (or perhaps created those perceptions where they were not seen before but now I cannot see Freeza any other way)
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackYoungs Frieza is an abomination, and should not be listened to.
Chris Ayres' Frieza is best Frieza.

Time to leave them all behindFreeza is plenty androgynous on his own, though. I actually think he's kind of attractive in his base form. All everyone wants to do is draw Final Form Freeza though and I think he's totally ugly there.
But yeah, 1st Freeza is sexiest Freeza

The double take little kids do when they hear Linda Young Freeza declare himself the strongest man in the universe makes TOEI's show redeemable to me (until GT that is). Though now that Dragon Ball is permanently embedded itself animated culture it is harder to find people who do not know better.

Well, assuming they're close enough in power to fuse, I think they'd wind up between base and Super Saiyan Gotenks.
That's assuming the fusion dance is consistent between different users, though.
If Cooler and Freeza fused with the earrings, wouldn't they be stronger than anyone bar Vegito himself? I heard it was fighter A x fighter B.
Anyone here ever play Budokai 2? That had some pretty cool what-if characters, including a fusion of Yamcha and Tien (don't know how that worked given the difference but whatever).

...

Meh. I'm pretty much indifferent to all of them.
Don't even mind Japanese Goku.
I'm all powerful.
