No, worse than babies, even.
The Tournament of Power had enough highlights to give me hope.
There were still flaws throughout, but as steps in the right direction go.
Ok, fair enough. I've never bothered to watch Evolution (though my bro did...and apparently liked it). I do admit that saying Super is worse is pretty over the top.
No babies here though.
I just feel that the cracks in Toriyama and Toei's style are showing. Dragon ball had a good run (it's only years later that many of us are realizing its flaws) and probably should have stayed done.
Or at least, they should be willing to move forward and give us stuff with the new characters instead of pushing forward with the Goku Show, featuring the Vegeta experience.
We've had that show already. There's not much more you can do with those two character wise, and the power ups are getting so up there now it's ridiculous. What will they do when Goku becomes stronger than the strongest God of Destruction...then the angels, then the Grand Priest, and then Zen-O?
Who are they gonna come up with who's stronger then? Hell, it'd be nice to see the adventures of Uub, Pan and some of those other assholes from the new generation. Maybe they can give us something new, because Goku can't, but Toriyama won't do that (and I honestly think he doesn't know how, considering how hard he backtracked with Gohan).
Something needs to change.
One Strip! One Strip!A lot Dragon Ball fights were really slow.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. There's moments in Evolution where it's "just" a generic coming-of-age teen high school movie that has nothing to do with Dragon Ball, and doesn't resemble Dragon Ball or try to, and honestly it's pretty bad and poorly written directed and acted even for high school movie standards.
And those are the best part. Then it starts to try to be Dragon Ball and. No. Please no. Go back to High School.
I never plan to see it. I'd sooner take a vicious ass kicking. Physically that is. Watching Evolution would be the same thing, but for my soul.
Sometimes this thread dumps on the Super anime so hard I forget there are things about it I like
That first Goku vs Jiren fight....beautiful.
And the manga has it's own ups and downs, as we've mentioned (Vegeta stating he's never needed a teacher is true...you know, until Whis buggered that up) That's one significant different between him and Goku. He really has always searched for his own path.
Though whining about being behind Goku is kinda taking a step back. Then again, him going muh family is cliche. So neither side is perfect.
One Strip! One Strip! But where it shines, it goddamn shines.
Every time I think to myself "ugh, that Universe 4 elimination episode was so bad" I open up "All Ultra Instinct Battles" on youtube and I'm suddenly totally into Super again.
That one scene of Karrot summoning shen long is enough to peak it's quality...and that's at the end of the movie.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I think there are honestly High School AU fanfics of Dragon Ball that are actually better than Evolution.
And I'm not even talking on AO3 or FF.Net or even Deviant Art.
No. I mean on Wattpad.
In terms of believability of character, and faithfulness to source material, and. Better dialogue.
...I mean, part of me has a painful, masochistic, morbid curiosity about the Evolution-verse and what could have happened if there was a sequel and.
Like. I'm weirdly disappointed that the party at Chi-Chi's house wasnt broken up by the Ox-King?
I cannot stop thinking about who the fuck would have played the Ox King. Who is the worst possible choice for the role.

...
This is a very entertaining conversation. Lets keep it up.
Evolution is good for something after all.
