I don't think I'd be able to write anything after literally marathoning the Brolly movies except inarticulate rage. Which is ironically one of Broly's traditional and myriad flaws.
I mean, I can't remember which interview it was, and I might have imagined it, but didn't they say he locked himself in a hotel room with the Broly trilogy and a blank sheet of paper and walked out with the fucking 3 hour script? Maybe that's a myth or legend or my subconscious or nightmares made it up but.
The man couldn't write a fucking personality for Jiren in time for the anime, (because apparently Toei's original concept for Jiren was Toppo) but he made 3. Fucking. Hours. For Broly.
I dunno whether to be impressed or terrified.
It's so weird to me that Res 'F' got a rerelease with Future Trunks scenes added. Like, they were clearly just there to hype up the Future Trunks arc, but 'F' already got a retelling in Super, so were they retconning the Super version? I haven't seen the full extended edition, but I'm sure those Future Trunks scenes completely break up the narrative of the movie, too, even if they're supposedly focused on Goku's original battle with Freeza on Namek.

I'm pretty sure the 3 hours of content didnt come from Toriyama
The original draft he turned in was too short, and it was expanded and added to until it became too long. From the various permutations of that phrase I've seen it sounds like it was Toei/Shuiesha doing that part.
I also only recall Toriyama talking about watching the first Broli movie.

Well thanks to ![]()
, my comment about how what you said was a really interesting point is now lost to the ether.
Once again, you ruin everything with your cursed logic Saiga.
Though him wring something that's way too short sounds more like him. And here I was starting to respect the effort he put in, even as it horrified me.
One Strip! One Strip!...Although, wait, does that mean Toei are the ones doing the Dragon Ball Minus bits?
Because that would be. Weird.
Like. How short is too short, and which bits are from who?
Because, honestly, I dont see why a Broly movie needs as much Planet Vegeta flashback as it seems to get.

I assume the minus bits are from Toriyama's notes...at least until stated otherwise.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean, Toei in DBZ and original Dragon Ball would often try to recreate panels from the manga.
After Toriyama wrote and drew Minus himself, as a manga, I can see Toei throwing it in themselves because they wanted to color and animate it.
Id rather it be part of a Jaco OVA, where it makes more sense as part of the joke, but Toei is Toei.
If Freeza was created to substitute out Vegeta as the villain for Namek...
We missed out... Cause Evil Vegeta's meltdown over Goku becoming a Super Saiyan would have been glorious.
Praise be to the absolute QueenSee, I knew all that.
And that's why I was worried. The idea that Broly specifically got him to put work in was terrifying to me.
...See, with the little growth pod things, it's not clear that Saiyans do pop out of wombs on Vegeta?
Like, I have to assume that they do naturally because they can reproduce with humans, and so they have to be similar in physiology.
But as long as they worked for Frieza. Like, I don't think Raditz and Kakarot did?
Ngl I’m a bit disappointed the 3 hour script isn’t the immediate result of Toriyama binge watching all 3 Broly movies and then writing a script. The madness that would result from that would probably be amazingly insane.
Me and some friends marathoned all 3 Broly movies one night a couple months ago. None of us were really sane by the end of it, and we even watched Second Coming on double speed! I can’t imagine what would result from a person subjecting themselves to that alone lol.

But we also know he'd kill them just as easily if they fail him enough...or if he thinks they're a threat to his power.
Or if it just benefits him some how.
One Strip! One Strip!Of course not.
Ginyu was always useful.
Though when I think about it, Freeza must have had untold confidence in Ginyu's loyalty since he had no fear of the dude who could swap bodies at all.
I mean, Multiverse showed us what would happen if Ginyu lost that loyalty.
One Strip! One Strip!

Super Broly's runtime will be 1 hour and 40 minutes long, so it's closer to an hour and 20 minutes that were cut from the original script.
As for whether we'll get that extended cut, it's possible. Battle of Gods and Resurrection F both got extended versions released, the former with the all-important Beerus vs Oolong battle, the latter with Future Trunks reading about Goku and Freeza's first fight.
